Having been on Carnival & Princess where the balconies are no where alike, can someone describe the VA balcony on HAL for me? We're in cabin 7032, Rotterdam deck, portside. Are they covered? Is there glass at the bottom of the railing so you can see through them or are they solid? Can you fit a lounge chair on them? What furniture do they have? I know, lots of ??? but I appreciate your help! Thanks!

The Vista class ships have the new ratton looking furniture. We only do suites but I can tell you this, on the "sides" none of the balconies have lounge chairs - only a few of the "aft" balconies. You get a couple of chairs and a small cocktail table. The balconies aren't very large.

I have had a VA on my last two cruises (aft & starboard) and can tell you that the sides are "glass", not the solid metal. As for furniture, mine had two wicker chairs (one with a seat cushion and one without), a wicker foot stool and a small cocktail table. The only way to get a lounge chair in there would be to remove a chair and the foot stool but I do believe it can be done (or so my steward told me). You will need to pester the front desk staff for this however. The VA balconies do have a covering from the deck above but you will usually get sun for most of the day, depending on which direction the ship is headed. I always love using my balcony early in the morning and in the evening when you can sit and watch the sea go by. Enjoy your VA! I know I did (and will continue to do so). :)

We loved our VA Oosterdam balcony. It's not huge but adequate and particularly the larger wicker chair was very comfortable - with the ottoman it sort of made a lounger. I fell asleep there quite easily!
