We are flying in to Santiago, arriving in the morning of Jan. 18 and are considering the pick up and shore excusion by www.portcompass.com (http://www.portcompass.com). These folks were mentioned on aarlier message. Does anyone have experience with these folks and does anyone want to build a group for this brief tour of Santiago, tour of the countryside, lunch and transfer to the ship at Valparaiso?

We had private tours with this company several days while we were in Santiago last winter. I highly recommend Manuel Garcia manu@manquehue.net. He speaks perfect English, and is a great guide. We plan to use him when we are there again this coming January.

You can secure your own transportation to Valpariso for much less than the ship charges.

I would ask this company, but there are many other taxis, vans, etc that make the trip. The road has been redone, so the trip is much faster.

Do not forget the $100 that you must pay when you arrive or depart (depending on which way you are going) Chile at the airport. It has to be in US $$$$$ and is good for the life of your passport.
