Sorting culling and captioning is a pain but at least this time I remembered to synchronize the date and time on all of my cameras! "Click" - sort by create date and the first big chore is over.

And yes, we did have a great time. Happy to share.

These may qualify as cruise pictures. Taken at the Labirynth Park in Barcelona. Not listed in most tourist books so everybody was at the Sagrada Familia. We had a picnic there, lost ourselves in a life-size maze, and had a wonderful afternoon.

Thanks for identifying which photo in that album -- I had been looking at the wrong one.

If this teaches us anything, it teaches us that nothing in photos can be trusted! Or in videos, either -- remember the eagle picking up the toddler and flying off with it? Student film project, with CG effects -- but it went viral on the internet and even appeared on the national news. A few days later the news anchor had to admit they'd been fooled by a fake.

Still want to see everyone's cruise pix, though!

The cameras still don't lie...but the tools that let people alter what the camera recorded have come a long way from the art pencils, x-acto knives and glue that sold a hundred million copies of the Weekly World News! :)

Any particular reason a newbie feels the need to come on here and trash people for no reason? These boards are generally pretty civil. If you feel the need to be an a$$, you can also feel free to leave!

WHO CARES how many pages are here? If you see there are too many posts for you to be able to read, dont look.......really pretty simple. Your drivel is just adding to the post count so that people dont notice you've only been on here since August.........

Well at least we now know that you are not a math teacher.

Hey, hey, hey, hey now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, cuz, remember, no matter where you go, there you are...

Now that I have dispensed the wisdom of the ages (according to Buckaroo Banzai at least), I'll try to explain why the number of re-posts actually makes some sense.

Some of these threads are very active and most people seem to view them in linear mode rather than threaded. In linear view a comment on a particular image may appear several posts removed from the image being referenced and including the image is a sure way to associate the comment with the proper image. If this violates some universal bulletin board rule left over from the low-bandwidth CompuServe and AOL days, I suppose apologies to the ancients are in order.

As dltvermont said, these boards are pretty civil and after slogging through the litter of hurled mud and slung barbs in the usual photo forums, I think I speak for most of the people here in saying we'd like to keep it that way.

Dave

Well said - both of you!

I've attached a larger version of this picture...the light was really tough that morning, so the slow shutter speed and the ISO show a little bit...but you can't really can't tell when it's printed at 8x10 or smaller so I'm happy.

I could not believe it when the bear turned and looked at me right in the eye. Check out the water falling from its mouth and the freshly killed salmon at its feet. :)

Do they actually allow people out there on the RCI ships?

On HAL ships no passengers are allowed out on the bow when the ship is moving or at night even though they do not have helicopter pads.

I believe that the only time passengers are not allowed on the helipad is when there is a helicopter coming. Otherwise, its open. When the boat is moving, its very windy. This night was a sea night and we had pretty much come to a stop as there was no wind. We had to take advantage!

I wouldn't say that, but thanks. I've made 6 or 7 years of mistakes and I guess I'm finally getting better at these things. Even so, more than 50% of the shots I took this day had at least some evidence of camera shake. Given that the bridges between platforms were suspension bridges, it's no wonder. :)

Sometimes it's hard to deal with, but many, many of our fellow excursionists can be very pushy -- and this particular day was no exception. This is generally a problem anytime there are animals involved. The only way I am able to try for anything nice is to wait for everyone to get their shots and finish jockeying for position before I try. Since I used to weigh 430+ pounds, I am pretty self-conscious about crowding and bumping into people -- and this is even after losing 175 back down . I'm self-conscious enough that I'd rather miss the shot altogether than to have people whining about someone being in their way. Not worth it to me...

I was really glad I took my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens with me -- most of the shots other people showed me were simply not able to get there. They kept wondering why their P&S box cameras could not get a sharply focused shot zoomed in on a bear. I honestly just didn't have the heart to tell them why. There were a couple of times I wished I had my 400mm f/2.8 with me, but not too often. That lens weighs about 15 pounds by itself and these days I have NO hope of getting anything decent with it unless I'm on a tripod. When I needed it, I added the TC to the 70-200. If the light wasn't great, I just bumped up the ISO.

I love this picture for the memory, not the quality. Unfortunately this was taken from the gym, through the glass, with my iphone. This was in the middle of the atlantic on a TA from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale in November 2013 on Independence of the seas. I will never forget that walk on the treadmill.:D

We have done 2 Canada/NE cruises. The last one we had several days of intense fog where you basically couldn't see 5 feet in front of you. If I close my eyes, I can still hear that damn fog horn of the ship, going off every 5 minutes. I can hear it in my sleep. But that isn't unusual for this type of cruise.

If you have a choice of ports, try and pick Bar Harbor over Portland. While Portland is nice, bar Harbor is exceptional.

When the tide is low, you can walk on the sea bed to Bar Island. It is a terrific walk where you can see what life under the sea is like. When the tide is in, this is under maybe 30 feet of water.
http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/Maine/IMG_3473_zpsea7cec03.jpg

Bar Harbor is also the home to Acadia National Park, with it's high point, Cadillac Mountain

IN the Park itself, you have amazing views of the cliffs and rugged coastline
http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/Maine/IMG_3430_zpsbf4f620f.jpg

One favorite spot is Thunder Hole, but you have to time the tide just right to get the full effect

Australia at one time was on our bucket list.

YES, Krazy Kruizers is wise to have had Australia on that magic bucket list. Understand Krazy Kruizers cannot travel as much these days. As noted in the live/blog below, we got off of the Celebrity Solstice in February doing both Australia and New Zealand, plus, plus. We were with the six other couples in our travel group from Central Ohio. Check out these postings for more info/background on these many great ports stops, plus the many wonderful pre- and post-cruise adventures.

We are now working on our planned mid March-mid April 2015 Africa (Kenya-Zanzibar-Madagascar-South Africa-Zimbabwe-Botswana) adventure. Had lunch last Wednesday with the retired director of the Columbus Zoo who has taken twelve trips to Africa and worked with Jack Hanna. Fun doing that future research!! More visuals to be shared. Below are a few from Australia to prove why it is worth visiting there. Sorry, didn't have room here to share any from wonderful Sydney, the Great Barrier Reef, New Zealand, etc. Those are ALL on the full live/blog.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Back from doing a 14-day Celebrity Solstice, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure on this ship and getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1974139
for much more information and lots of wonderful pictures on these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 67,248 views for this fun posting.

With Craig Wickham, the operator of Exceptional Kangaroo Island on this famed Australian island near Adelaide, he took us on a "hunt", successfully, to find more Koalas out in the wild. Here is just one example of these Koala finds that we enjoyed so much. Aren't they cute? So lovable?:

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm271/tlcohio/April%202013/June%202013/KangIslandOneA1_zpsc37fce84.jpg (http://s298.photobucket.com/user/tlcohio/media/April%202013/June%202013/KangIslandOneA1_zpsc37fce84.jpg.html)

The Kuranda Scenic Rail trip took us back to Cairns along a dramatic routing, plus interesting sights, dramatic waterfalls, major engineering work, many train tunnels, big bridges, etc. The rail line dates back to 1891. For our group of six, we did the upgrade to the "gold" rail seating with plenty of wine, nice food/snacks, etc., in a wonderful, old-style rail car with great service and attention by the staff The great company and nice sights (plus the flowing wine), made it very much fun on a day with on and off patches of rain.:

From the Daintree Rainforest and National Park near Cairns, Australia, here are some samples of our exploring there. First, is one picture to illustrate the somewhat challenging 1.43 miles circular hike in the deep, deep of this dramatic rainforest. Lots of rocks, up and down paths, twists and turns, hard work, etc., as this picture shows. But we survived!! Even at our ages. Also in the Mossman Gorge, there was a long swinging bridge. Not Indiana Jones, but for us it was super spectacular. Second is one of my favorites as it show a member of our group looking at one of these huge trees in the middle of this rainforest and contemplating its majesty, size and history. And I told John the next morning, the picture shows his more photogenic side!:

From Port Arthur, the historic Tasmanian penal colony seen during our stop in Hobart, here is just one of the many views for some of the sights there. This gives an overview for a portion of this prison site. This location was nearby to the water area as the prisoners would arrive from England for this “visit”. It took six to nine months to make the journey from England to this distant part of the world.:

Terry -- beautiful pictures.

We were fortunate that we traveled as much as we did -- did many land tours all over Europe for years -- saw places you can't see from a ship as they are too fat inland.

Then I finally convinced DH to take a cruise and not live out of a suitcase for several weeks and always having to get up early for buses, planes, trains and cars.
