Millennium cruise 8/14/05 questions Venice to Barcelona

We are taking the Millinnium cruise on 8/14/05 and would like to have any input on anyone who has taken the cruise or will be. What are the best shorex's. What about staying the night before and what hotel is the closest? How far is the port from the airport? What about the arrival in Barcolona. Is it worth it to stay an extra night or just book out when the cruise is over? Can you bring your own booze and wine aboard? What is the weather in August? Any answers or suggestions are welcome.
