To all those Brilliance cruisers just back from Kusadasi (and anyone else who has been there), do restaurants and merchants accept euros and dollars, or must we exchange for some Turkish Lira? Are prices marked in different currencies, or only Lira? Thanks!

Last summer, I paid for merchandise in both Euros and US dollars. Be sure to negotiate and be sure to establish the currency before beginning.

Enjoy your day in Turkey!

When we were there in July 2003 they were taking euros or dollars as equals but I doubt if they are still doing that. But I'm sure they will still take dollars without any problem. I agree with the above poster and make sure what currency you are working with when you are discussing the price.

Have a great next cruise.

Kusadasi was fantastic. The merchants bargained in Euro's - I never heard US $ or Lira mentioned at all. Just be warned - the Bazzar is a crazy place and the merchants are very "intrusive"? Don't even start to bargain with them unless you are prepared to buy at the end. They have stands all over with signs that read "Genuine Fake Watches" :D Laurey

We were there in 2003 they will take anything except Turkish Lira ...seems funny they didn't want their own currency.

The two restaurants we stopped in figured out the bills in Turkish lira first and we had to ask them to convert them to Euros. In the two stores we visited, all prices were quoted in Euros only.

They will take anything but prefer euros, ensure you have the correct exchange rates and haggle, haggle, haggle especially in the Grand Bazaar
