Anyone know what the size of the sofa/bed in the catagory C (now considered a mini-suite) is? Also, when the twins are pushed together, is that a queen or a king? I was going to bring one of those egg crate pads for my parents' bed for extra comfort (and because I had read a few complaints about bed comfort on the boards) and wondered which size to pack.

Thanks!!!

All RCI literature says QUEEN but it feels bigger than that. I think it's probably an odd size, not exactly Queen or King. I've never had a problem with beds not being comfortable. I don't know that I'd take up packing space with an egg crate thingy.

aqusis, The only reason I'm taking the egg crate is that we are treating my folks for their 50th anniversary. They've never been on a cruise. Quite truthfully, I don't want to hear them complain about their bed http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif. I'll just enjoy the extra space in our luggage that the pad took up going! Were you on the Splendour? The two posts I read concerning the beds were specifically about the Splendour. Just not taking any chances here! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Hey, they get crabby when they lack sleep and who needs that?! Thanks so much for responding! I think I'll get the king and pack some good scissors!

Yes, I've been on the Splendour. Getting the King and cutting it down is probably your best bet. I think the twins that they push together are kind of like the ones used in dormitories, they are a little longer than normal. I know when the kids go to college every fall, the ads for department stores feature extra long twin sheets that are a bit larger than the normal twin beds. I think that is probably what the ship has so putting the two together creates an odd size, somewhere between a queen and king. Hope you have a wonderful time and Congrats to your parents on 50 years!

4 Cruisers,

There may be some difference in the mattresses (perhaps not the bed width or length) --

When we had other CC cruisers visit our GS (B Suite) on Rhapsody several sat on the bed -- and all commented that the bed was softer and more comfortable than in their cabins. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif (Some had inside cabins -- Deck 3 -- one had JS Suite) ??

Just thought this was curious, (and don't know if it would apply to Splendour) -- I never thought about any difference in the mattress quality as far as the cabins. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Aqusis, I bet you're right on the long/twin size matresses! Makes sense because many people are too tall for a regular twin! I will go with the king and scissors! Thanks for the good wishes!

bookit, I almost think it's the luck of the draw thing when it comes to the beds!!! We had a Royal Suite on the Century in Jan. and our beds were REALLY bad...I had read a post that someone had requested head of housekeeping to change their matress and they had! We had such a wonderful time and never lost sleep because of the matress, so we didn't bother...had my parents had that matress, we would have never heard the end of it! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif so I'm just practicing preventative medicine here! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Now if the food isn't terrible, we'll be fine! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
