Finally decided to try the Opera next year and will book as soon as the schedules are set. Any suggestion as to whether I should gon in Jul, August or the first week of Sept.?
I like warm weather, but am concerned with the number of children that might be on board. I experienced Celebrity with in excess of 600 children and it really turned me off. Children are children, but if they get out of hand.....
As for the Med ports, does the month make a difference?

Lastly, when will the reservations open up?

Capt. Tom,

I would strongly suggest you do not do the Med in June, July or August. I was on Sinfonia late June early July and there were waayyyy too many ill behaved children aboard. It affected many aspects of the cruise.

There were hundreds aboard and IMHO, the Italians are particularly lax in supervising their kids. There were everywhere they were not supposed to me. The Captain actually addressed it as an issue at his cocktail reception but did nothing about it.

I think September is a much better bet, plus the weather is pretty terrific then as well.

Yes, I agree with Caviargal, September is the best bet all around... but not the first week if at all possible. Summer vacations end in Europe for the children from end Aug to the 2nd week Sept. By 12 Sept nearly all will be back in school. The first week you will still get a fair number, especially as the last weekend in August is a public holiday in the UK. Whatever you do, do not go around the week of 15 August. This is Assumption day, a public holiday for most Southern Europe.

Yo-

Agree with everyone about the middle of September for Opera and the Med - very good weather/seas, etc - far fewer kids-
