I have a totally silly question. Whenever I am getting ready for a major event - holidays and vacations mostly - I like to dye my hair beforehand. I am a natural brunette and I usually go for an auburn/red color, which means that I stain sheets and towels orange for a while. The latest color I've found looks pretty good on me but I was leaking orange for weeks! Even if I couldn't see it when washing my hair, I would wake up with a pale orange tint on my pillow.
So I am wondering...do cabin stewards care about this kind of thing? Can I dye my hair whenever I want and just assume they bleach everything? Will it look weird to anybody??

I think they bleach everything! Don't worry about it!

I dye my hair a reddish-brown color & don't have any problem with the color rubbing off on pillowcases. Are you using permanent color?

Yes, I do use level 3 (permanent) color - sorry I hadn't mentioned that!
This is only a problem when my hair is wet, but I prefer to bathe at night, so I always end up with wet hair at bedtime. :)

i am a hair stylist and i have not heard that color has stained things that bad i would really make sure you wash it complete when removing the color. sometimes it can be really hard to get off the scalp

It isn't necessarily stained permanently...a washing makes it better, and if it's something white then bleach clears it up perfectly. And this happens after half a dozen washings, so I don't think it's that it hasn't been washed completely! It's not a problem most of the time, I'm just worried about getting it on somebody else's sheets rather than my own.

Why dont you put down a towel on the pillow in that case. I also dye my hair auburn. Ms Clairol will visit me in the next couple of weeks since i cruise in October.

I had my hair dyed on the ship last year. A wonderful three-color streaky affair and absolutely great. But it left the worst marks on everything: bathrobe, sheets, towels. I figure that if the cleaning people had a problem there would be a war with the spa people. susana.

i have that problem too and i use Pravana and redken to dye my hair. I also have very porous hair. I think that makes a difference.
