View Full Version : Radiance/Serenade Room Question

We are going on the Radiance of the Seas in July to Alaska. There will be 4 adults in the cabin. We have booked room #9582 on the "hump".
Certain rooms in the RCCL brochure have a triangle on them indicating that it has a sofabed. (which ours does) Other rooms indicate a *star or a +cross or a diamond to indicate number of pullman beds.
I am concerned that a sofabed only sleeps one person. I don't think a TA would book a room for 4 (and RCCL accepting the reservation) in a room that isn't set for 4 people, but human error does occur. Is there someone out there that could offer me a bit of piece of mind that our cabin would hold 4 people? Perhaps I sound a bit paranoid, but peace of mind is priceless.
Anyone out there slept on a sofabed on the Radiance (or twin ship Serenade)?
Thanks so much for all input http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We have this same cabin booked on the Serenade to Alaska at the end of the month. We checked out the room when onboard in December and I think you will be fine. The sofabed is a standard three cushion living room sized couch. Although we did not open the bed out, I would think it is at least a full if not a queen sized mattress. The view from the balcony is great. You can see both the front and the back of the ship, with nothing below but water. Enjoy!!!

Thanks so much. I feel better. I am especially pleased to hear that you can see the front and back of the ship. I wondered about that being on the hump if we would miss the back of the boat.
Also curious then, if the balcony is a bit bigger than the ones not on the hump for that cabin?

Hello Wifeofbedo -
What date are you sailing the Serenade? We are sailing her on July 18 to Alaska. If you are on the same cruise, look for our thread for the Roll Call on the Royal Caribbean meet & mingle board.

The balcony for 9582 is a standard size balcony. If it is any bigger, it is only slightly larger. We had a E1 on Deck 10 forward last December and the view from the "hump" is much better. Most of the ship has about a 10 foot overhang that covers the lifeboats on deck 6. Your balcony actually hangs out over the water. Good for fishing if you have read that thread...http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Other than the fact that Murphy's Law dictates that everything good to see will be on the other side of the ship you should have one of the best views on the ship. Hopefully I can confirm this for you in three weeks...

wifeofbedo,
My opinion is that you should double check with your ta to make sure. We were just on the Radiance and had a pull out sofa too. We were in 7070. In that cabin, the diamond, had a pullman (bed that drops from the ceiling) and the sofa bed, which fits ONE PERSON. It's definately a single. My daughter is 9 and just fit. I did notice in the RCCL vacation planner that in this category, E1- E3, the sofa beds are for one passenger, yet the D category just says sofa bed. So I bet you are ok, but always best to be SUPER SURE.
Have fun... the Radiance is a beautiful ship and the staff wonderful.
