Does anyone know if the ship will be moved from New Orleans? My in-laws are cruising on the ship in January and can't get to a computer to check it out. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

I don't think any ships will be sailing out of New Orleans until late next year. Your best bet would be to call Carnival directly and check on that particular sailing.
Good luck.

I email RCL today and got the following reply.
"Given the recent tragedy that has occurred in New Orleans with Hurricane Katrina, we are researching all possibilities concerning future cruises involving the Port of New Orleans. While at this time, no decision has been made in this regard, please visit our website at www.royalcaribbean.com or contact us at 1-800-521-8611 at a later time for further updates as they become available. We appreciate your patience in this matter."
We are on the Grandeur on Jan 7th and we are trying to find out about the change so we can get air and hotel reservations.

It's a real shame that RCCL does step up to the plate and just let people know that cruise ships are not going to be sailing out of New Orleans until sometime next year. All the news boardcasts and web information is saying it will be 60-90 days before they get the water pumped out and then there will be an enormous clean up effort that will need to be done before it is going to be safe to return to New Orleans as a tourist. Many of the downtown hotels and other facilities are going to be used to house the people doing the cleanup and probably city employees who have lost their homes. While the actual port facility came through the hurricane with minor damage per various news reports right now it has a Naval aircraft carrier docked at and may soon have a naval hospital ship. I realize this is only my opinion but it is based on many hours of watching this disaster develop on TV and on the web. I'm sure the New Orleans port authority and RCCL would love to be able to start sailing cruise ships out of the harbor as soon as possible but I think some time next spring is probably more realistic. Right now there are still people who were on the last Carnival cruise out of New Orleans who can't get back into town to check on their cars and retrieve them.
Good luck in a November cruise but I would be willing to put money that it will be out of one of the Texas ports or Mobile.

The real shame is people believing what they see on TV.
The heaviest damage is to residential areas that the typical tourist never sees.
I'm still booked on the Christmas Grandeur cruise and assume it is leaving from New Olreans. It may well be relocated, but also may well be sailing without our group, in that case.

I just looked on RCCL web site and they don't even show a departure from NOLA until late next year now.

Yep. Was on the RCCL board first. While a decent offer, Tampa was too far to go so we switched to Princess out of Galveston for Christmas. Maybe next year.
