A Studio is about 1500+ per day (more for studio-appartments of course).

I would doubt that someone who paid a few million or much more for their cabins care about lowering the $1,500 a day fee.
I do admit the folks on the World were very nice and friendly from the 2 times we were on it.

Residential Cruises
Claudia Gordon + Years as agent: 29. Other specialty: Africa. Consulting fee: Varies.
there is also exclusive resorts - they have 4 2BR apartments. nightly cost works out to about ~$1600 through them i believe. (4 pax, not all-inclusive)

That's about right for Exclusive Resorts. $995 daily rate for membership plus $450 daily surcharge for The World plus opportunity cost on refundable deposit plus non-refundable deposit amortized. Obviously, the longer you're with the club the lower that number is. Maybe it works out to a little more than $1600 per day but then you also have access to all the other properties, many of which have a much higher value than The World.

I think the meal plan is still an option. It goes for whatever The World charges. Otherwise, the ER surcharge is still $450. This is to help offset the unusually high maintenance fees. Personally, I think the food is way overpriced and the restaurants just okay. If you're on a port intensive itinerary you would eat most lunches and many dinners ashore anyway. Breakfast is easy to make in the kitchen. I'd be surprised if many pax actually purchase the meal plan.

what does the world charge? didnt you find out at one point? (you said it was expensive.)
if you own, you have that $33,180/yr to work from. so the only time its not all-inclusive is the 1 private rental i linked, and if youre an ER member. i wonder if ER doesnt have to pay that F&B fee... doubt they got much if any discount on maintenance/purchase.

The FAP might be somewhere on the website. ER did not buy the food plan but maintenance is well over $100,000 per unit annually. I looked into buying a unit but it just doesn't make sense especially since you're only buying into a 50 year lease and it's an annual money pit just like any boat. It's fun once in a while and a change from a typical cruise but nothing to get too excited about beyond that. I don't know how the upcoming ships will ever sell out: Magellan and 4S. I think there was another one in the works, too. It's going to be a long time before there's enough confidence in the economy for even the rich to "go overboard" on such luxury vacation "investments".
