WE are sailing for 11 days in Dec and are going to be in NYC for a few days before and a few days after. For 2 weeks of parking at the pier it will be $360. Any suggestions for alternate lots in Manhattan (we know our way around to find something) where we can park the car for 2 weeks at a better price ?

I thought I read somewhere that the month long parking fee was much less.
From the Port of New York web site---- http://www.panynj.gov/
$180 for a month is far less than the $360 for two weeks you wrote.
The New York City Passenger Ship Terminal provides Five 1000 foot long berths suitable for servicing the World’s largest cruise vessels at a convenient location on the Hudson River only a few blocks west of Times Square in the heart of Manhattan. The terminal occupies the West Side of 12th Avenue between 46th and 54th Streets.
There are three levels at which operations take place. Taxi Cabs and Personal Vehicles drop and receive passengers at the elevated Mid-Level of the Viaduct which is where cruising passengers access their vessels. This level is reached by driving up the ramp past the guard booth at 54th Street, the northern limit of the Terminal. Passengers traveling by cab or personal auto connect with their vehicles here where they can enter or exit the Customs Hall, the Embarkation Booths and the Vessel Gangways at this level.
Buses and Limousines operate on the Street Level. Buses are slotted both inside and outside the Piers. Limo Passengers are processed mainly at the mouths of the three piers where baggage is accepted or delivered by attending Porters.
The Third Level is devoted to Cruise Passenger Parking. More than 1000 spaces are available on a first come basis. Daily parking is available for vehicles dropping off or picking up passengers. In the unusual event that the Lot should become filled, there are alternative lots available in the neighborhood. There has been no instance in recent memory when there has been insufficient space for any cruise parking customers. The Parking Level is accessed by a ramp at the south end of the Mid-Level Viaduct.

Thanks electricon....
It does say $180 ...so I am not sure why when I called they quoted me $360...considering $180 is for a month....looks like that's the best deal.

Hi Riz,
I'm not sure about the parking issue, but I wanted to mention that we have a Spirit Holiday Cruise (12/18/05) roll call going on at:

They probably quote you a daily rate, $25/day?
$25 x 11 = $275.
Even that doesn't compute properly.........

Maybe they translated to Canadian dollars...but it $180(US) for the cruise.

More likely they quoted you the monthly rate thinking it was a weekly rate.
$180 x 2 = $360.
Nonetheless, they were wrong. It's $180 for a month.

$180 is the fee for a month. That is what you will pay for parking for a 2 week cruise.

It's true that the max rate is $180 but be careful because the dock parking is only open when the cruise ships are in. So, for an 11 day cruise that you want to park for 14 days, make sure there are ships in port for the days and times you arrive and leave, or your car will be 'locked' in the lot.

Just returned yesterday from the Jewel and parked at the New York City pier. The monthly parking is $180.00, which is cheaper than paying the per day fee.
Parking there was very easy and efficient. My husband dropped off our luggage at the front door and they were taken immediately by the porter. My husband then parked the car and was back to meet me within minutes.
Yesterday, we located our luggage and again the porter loaded them onto the cart and took us to our car in the parking area. From the time we left the ship to the time we were pulling out of the parking lot, it took all of 20 minutes.
There were lots of parking spaces and you will find this to be very very easy.
