First Time Cruise. Have balcony "guarantee" Carnival Legend Dec 11.
Our TA says we will receive Bag Tags AT the pier. I understand it is
a mob scent on arrival with porters slinging bags onto containers.
As we will have no cabin assignment yet, and no baggag tags, what
will we do with our luggage on arrival by private car?
Can anyone help me to understand how this works?
Also embarkation is supposed to begin at 12:00 for a 4:00pm departure.
Would arrival at 11:00am be too early?
The postings on these boards are most helpful. Thanks in advance

The porters will be able to give you bag tags - just explain to them you have a guarantee cabin. You will need to fill out the information on the bag tag so some people suggest creating a label with your name, etc. on it so you can just affix that to your luggage.
A lot of people arrive between 10:30 and 11:00. Actual boarding begins close to noon - they board by arrival time. Last time we sailed on the Legend we were at the pier around 11 and were in our cabin about 12:30.

You can always find out your cabin assignment before embarkation day. Have your TA call Carnival a few days before you leave if you haven't found out what it is before.
When you arrive at the port (yes it's busy, and 11am is fine) there will be Carnival reps there with a manifest that will have your cabin assignment. Tell the porter you need baggage tags, they have hundreds of them, just fill in the cabin number and other info and away you go... Take a Sharpie with you to put the cabin number on the tag so it's easily read.

If you did not book through a TA you may be able to find out your cabin number when you go onto Carnival's web site to fill out your immigration paperwork, which you need to do before you cruise and then print out your "Fun Pass". This helps speed up the process when you check in at the pier. Go to www.carnival.com click on my reservation. It will ask you to register, which is your email address and create a password. Once you do than click on my reservation again and it will ask for your booking number and ship name. When it pulls up your reservation, your cabin number should be listed.

It's organized chaos that runs like a top. You'll should have no problem whatsoever. ;)
