While the ship is in port (Bermuda) is the casino open? I am wondering about cabin noise for cabins above and below the Casino.

I can't give you an answer on noise since we never book a cabin above or below a public are. I can, however, tell you that the casino will be closed while the ship is in port. On on our just completed Voyager cruise, I believe the shops were closed as well.

The casino should be closed while the ship is within something like 3 miles of Bermuda. The Bermudian Government is pretty conservative and there are laws prohibiting gambling. There are also no casinos in Bermuda.

Buy your gifts from the duty free shop on the ship prior to your Bermuda arrival. The really have the best bargains and you only realize it when your on the way home. And some of the best things are usually sold out by the return trip
Yes the casino is closed in port. And there is no entertainment on the ship while in port.

This is incorrect, at least on the cruise ship I was on. There was plenty of entertainment on the Ship while we were in port. They had many of their daily activities, and all the shows/parties/luaus every night. None of the entertainment seemed to be affected by us being in port.

We were on Celebrity Zenith to Bermuda

Casinos were closed in port. Entertainment and activities were up and running as normal. No difference between a sea day and a port day.

We've cruised to Bermuda twice and I will assue you that Casinos will be closed while you are in port. I've never been in a port where a cruise ship casino is open.

I've never heard of cabin noise from being below or above the casino but I have heard of cabin noise by being below certain other locations.

Sorry to disagree. Although the regular activities are always ongoing even when the ship is in port there are no SHOWS in the main room.

MeBob, just for curiosity, which ship were you on? Zenith had shows each night we were in port and at sea.

We too were on the Zenith. There is no entertainment on the ship because the Bermudan Government wants you out and about. I really am curious to know what show you saw while in port. I'm not talking about bingo.

Any other cruisers out there with an opinion?

I have had the same experience as MeBob. I cruised to Bermuda twice; both times on the Horizon. There were no shows while we were in port as this was regulated by the Bermuda authority. Unless they have changed this, that's the way it was for us.

And, defiintely casinos cannot be open while in Port which is consistent to the way it is around the world.

MeBob:
I pulled out my cruise compass from our cruise on the Voyager of the Seas in Bermuda in November 2005, and the night we were docked , there was a Headliner Show at the La Scala Theater with Laraf, at 7:45pm, and there was an Ice Odyssey Show at 9pm and in the La Scala Theater there was the Love and Marraige Gameshow at 10:30pm.

However our Casino was closed while in port.

I GIVE UP. DID THEY REALLY HAVE THE LOVE AND MARRIAGE GAMESHOW? AND ICE SKATING TOO? I'll BET THEY SOLD THEIR LOTTERY TICKETS TOO.

We sailed the Crown to Bermuda in October, and there were shows every night for the 3 nights we were there, and they also had a BBQ party out near the pool, with a band and contests. Maybe other cruise lines are different??:p

We have done the Boston to Bermuda cruise on the Norwegian Majesty 7 times. While in Bermuda the casino is closed, the onboard shops are closed and NCL is limited as to what shows they can have. There is still something going on every night. Due to a nosie ordinence top deck activities must stop at least by midnight.

As I recall, we had these performers while in port: J.J. Downs (multi-instrumentalist/entertainer), Bob and Sarah Trunell (magic and comedy), and Joe Mulligan (comedian borrowed from Horizon --- berthed next to us in Hamilton).
