Hawaii on my mind

We just won round trip airline tickets to Hawaii. We're so lucky! We must use tickets by 3/31/05. We already have a cruise to Alaska planned for June 2004. Would want Hawaii cruise to be in the Nov.2004 to March 2005 time frame.With Christmas being out due to our jobs. We also have a 14 year old so missing school time is a concern. Cruise would have to be 7 days. What is the best month for calm seas and weather in Hawaii between November and March? Thanks, Deb

We went President's week in Feb. '04 (on the Star) and had great weather, I think two weeks later and there was a terrible storm, so don't base your decision on the weather. If you go to the Ports of Call/Hawaii board, you can get more information.

IMHO, February is a good choice - if only because that is when the whales are in Hawaii. If you checkout the Pride of Aloha schedules, you can probably find a cruise that will fit, and I would suggest a day or two before (to recover from the time-change - thats a 5 hour change/10 hour flight from VA. - been there, done that) and/or a day or two after to recover from the cruise http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

PS: If you see the whales in Hawaii in February, when you go to Alaska in June, you'll see them again...maybe...

I am going on the Pride of Aloha this November and I have been on a cruise in Hawaii in November before. The weather really was NOT a issue. It is gorgeous there year round!

Sorry to intrude on this thread, but I couldn't figure out how to post a new topic. Will the Pride of Aloha based in Honolulu for 7 day cruises have a casino? I don't think the current one does even though they go to Fanning Island. This is info I need before booking a family reunion cruise for next year.

No casino on round-trip Honolulu sailings due to Hawaii law. Only cruises departing from California/Mexico/Vancouver have one and it is not open when in Hawaiian waters. We are going on the Star 4-25 and we were really torn on whether to travel without a casino. It's not like we are major gamblers, but do like to partake a bit. Instead we are going to have some poker fun in our cabin with our friends, whihc should be a blast anyway! Good luck with your plans.

The weather is steady all year. Daytimes are 79-90 depending on the season. Dec-Mar is winter and more wet...but not by mainland standards. We cruised in January and had gorgeous weather and then the week before ours was brutal. You just never know.

Bambam is right...if youre coming this way, and you have the choice, see the whales between late Dec-late March.

The weather in the fall is still hot, but youre worried about your child missing school.

Since the airfare is free...choose a vacation week! You wont be disappointed in any time you come.
