I've never been to Long Beach but my son and I will be flying into Los Angeles the day before our cruise and taking the Shuttle to Long Beach. Does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel or motel near the Port?

The Queen Mary (562) 432-6964 is the closest. Tiny rooms, but you get a chance to stay aboard an old classic ship, and the tour is free for hotel guests. Wonderful Sunday brunch if you will be there that day.
The next closest would be the Hyatt Regency across the bridge near the convention center: (562) 491-1234. The Westin and Renaissance are just a couple of blocks further away.

We will be leaving next week and staying at the Hilton Long Beach. I believe it is on the same street as the Hyatt. We will be cruising from San Pedro so I will have a take a taxi there. I understand there is a free shuttle bus that does the rounds and even goes over to the Queen Mary. There are a number of restaurants on Pike Street which is a few blocks from where we will be staying. Good luck in your decision.
