We were in Montego Bay in 2004 and spent the day at Doctos Cave Beach. It was about a 5-10 minute taxi ride from the pier. We felt safe while there. A Very beautiful place to spend the day and it had a trampoline for the kids.

Nan: There is probably a tour through the ship that will get you to Dunn's River Falls. It's very beautiful, and the climb up the falls is a neat experience if you're in reasonably good shape (kids love it). Be careful, the way up has lots of very slippery spots, and if you fall, it's solid rock and I'm sure lots of ankles, wrists, hips and arms have been fractured there. There is a staircase that parallels the falls that's a lot safer and you still see everything you would if you went up through the water. You can get in the water along the way, take pics, and get out and continue back on the stairs.

If you don't want to trek all the way there from Mo' Bay (and it is quite a distance), you'll like the beaches near the cruise dock, especially the all-inclusive package (beach chairs, food, drinks, water toys, Water Park) at Sunset Beach. Doctor's Cave Beach is also supposed to be very nice.

Does anyone know what it costs to utilize Docs beach?

Also, how far is it from where the cruises drop you off?

Thanks.

If you are docked in Montego Bay the trip to Doctors Cave beach is 5-10 minutes. The cost 2 years ago was $5 (US) per person for the entire day.

Hey Nan:

We just went to Doctor's Cave beach in Dec 05, while aboard the Celebrity Galaxy. We normally scuba dive, but wanted a beach day in Jamaica.

I agree with "Kiss"; it's a great stop if you want to enjoy a beautiful Caribbean beach day!

The entrance fee is $5 p/p and we also rented an umbrella and two lounges for the day for $15. The cab fare was $5 each way. IMHO the price was reasonable and was well spent....we thought it was worth every penny....a beautiful clean beach with nice bathrooms and big floating trampolines for the kids. (including me, I'm a 51-yr old kid!) We spent the entire day there.
