I had asked my TA to make me reservations for 2 nights on the Zaandam in the Pinnacle Grill for my cruise in July. She was finally able to do this yesterday, after a few calls during the last month. They told her I would have to prepay for this, which is OK, I guess, but I had never heard of this prepayment before, nor had I seen it on the boards.
Has anyone else had this experience of prepay?

Yes we booked the Pinnacle on the Veendam last Nov. and we prepaid it. It helps to keep the on board account lower. We also preordered some Canadain Club and prepaid it.

Yes, prepayment is standard. We've done it before.

Anything that you order or book through ships services has to be prepaid. Just think of it as one less expense when you are on the ship.......jean:cool:

Yes, it's a "standard" operating procedure. I pre-paid for my Pinnacle Grill reservation when I was recently on the Oosterdam.
Has anyone else had this experience of prepay?

Yes, if you book in advance of the sailing with Ship Services you will be charged for the reservation. I did that last year when I ordered sometime in the summer for the autumn cruise.

Unfortunately, the ego-centric activity of some of your fellow creatures make this necessary. It's also why some restaurants now require a credit card number when taking a reservation. And why the ships' ask pre-payment of shore excursions booked in advance.
Too many crude and rude people made all sorts of reservations simply so that it would be available to them whenever they might want to go. Since there's a limited number of tables, this left both empty places in the restaurant as well as hard feelings among those who weren't able to eat there.
Just one more sign that the "it's all about me" generation is still in the ascendency...
