Does anyone have info on getting from Warnemunde port to Berlin? Also, any touring info on Gdansk, Poland. Don't see anything on their website for bus tours, etc.:) We'll be on Regatta, June 6th. Appreciate any advice!!

We were on Regatta into the Baltic this past August, and enjoyed the trip very much.
In Warnemunde, the ship docks directly opposite the rail station, and it is a short walk (100 yards or so). We didn't go into Berlin, as we did not feel like an all day trip, but several other passengers did the trek.
My wife and I took a communter train into Rostock, and toured the city by ourselves (I rode their very efficient trolley, out to the zoo, among other places). My wife shopped in a rather trendy downtown botique area.
In Gdansk, there were several organized ship's excursions. I don't recall which tour my wife took, but my bro-in-law and I took a half day ship's tour into the old city and its main square area. Very pretty, and rebuilt as it was before the devastation of WW2. I would have liked to have more time to explore this interesting city.
Oceania's itinerary into the Baltic is a winner, particularly the beautiful Kiel Canal area of Germany, which was a highlight of the trip.

Thanks for the info. We'll be a party of six and hated to spend $149 each for the bus trip into Berlin. The rail is the way to go!!
Also nice to hear about Gdansk. They have a website but no info on how to get around to see the sights so I guess we'll go with the ship's tour on that one. Thanks again.

Hi - Check toursinpoland.com
They offer custom tours of Gdansk and area. I got a quote for 300 Euros for a 4-person 6-hour tour that included Old Town Gdansk, Spiot & more. We're on the 10 July sailing of Insignia.

boom_boom - we are also on the July 10 curise. What arrangements have you made for non-ship tours during the cruise? There are 2 of us and we would be interested in joining you if space is available.
Thanks

Gdansk is definitely worth spending time in. We shared a cab with another couple from the pier into town. Arranged with the driver to meet as at the drop off point at a pre-arranged time to return to the ship.
It's been a few years, but I think we paid about $25 each way ....
We also did the bus trip to Berlin - its more accurately an Autobahn tour with a stop in Berlin. My recommendation would be to stay around Rostock/Warnemunde (which, ironically enough, is a popular European beach resort) or take the train to Berlin.

We were on the same cruise last June. In Gdansk, we shared a taxi from the dock with another couple. We first stopped at the Oliwa Cathedral in time for the noon organ concert and then on to Old Town. The driver met us at a pre-arranged time to return us to the ship, passing by the Solidarity Monument.
The cost as I recall without any negotiation was $40 per couple. Incidentally, US $ were accepted everywhere in the tourist areas of Gdansk.
The Regatta was in Warnemunde on a Sunday. If your cruise is the same, be aware that, because it is a beach resort, most things in Warnemunde are open but, except for a couple of restaurants, Rostock was closed tight when we were there.

We also booked toursinpoland for our Aug. 3 Baltic sailing. We will be visiting Stutthof concentration camp and touring the must-see sights in Gdansk. There are just the two of us right now, but the price does come down if two other couples join us. If anyone on this sailing is interested, please post a reply.

There are four of us on the Aug 3 cruise. We might be interested in joining you in Gdansk. Would you please give a little more detail of the tour and the cost? Thank you. Nancy
