Can anyone tell me how the Mexican Riviera is in December? I have searched on line for average temps and such but would like some feedback from those who have done it.

TIA

I was there the last part of Nov. and into Dec. last year. The weather was cool going down and coming back, but it was in the mid to upper 80's in Cabo, Matzatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Bring a jacket for the sea days. It can get chilly onboard.

We went last Dec. 10-17...the weather was pretty cool getting there and back from San Diego, but once we got there we were in short sleeves, tank tops and swimsuits all day. It was very sunny for us...I don't believe we had any rain. And definitely humid, though not horrible.

The Mexican Riviera is generally beautiful in December, and IMHO that's the best time to go. DH and I met on a HAL cruise of the Mexican Riviera and have done it 2 more times, always in late November or the first half of December. Likely cool from LA or San Diego down to Cabo San Lucas, then warm, not too humid. Some rain is possible, but the hurricane season is over by then.

December is also prime whale-watching time, and you will likely see some spectacular whale and dolphin activity, especially near Cabo. So keep a sharp lookout there and on sea days.

December 12 is the feast day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico's patron saint. If you are lucky enough to be in Puerto Vallerta that day, join the crowds and parades near the Church of the Virgin of Guadalupe. We had the good fortune to be right in front of the church as runners arrived carrying a statue of the Virgin and disappeared into the church, followed by the priest coming out to bless the crowd. We were blessed indeed. Lots of little children in carefully pressed traditional costumes looked so cute. A day or two before the feast day, Acapulco featured a long series of processions coming down the waterfront street--right past the ship on the way to the church square--with balloons, bands, singing, candles and the occasional fireworks. These processions lasted all afternoon and evening.

If you book it, you will have an unforgettable experience (new spouse is optional). ;)

For a number of years we would take a trip to Puerto Vallarta. Early December was our favorite time. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, we're not hot weather-high humidity people and for us the weather was perfect-- shirt sleeve and shorts during the day, long pants and a windbreak in the evening in case the wind was coming in off the Bay. The week of December 5 - 12 is a great time to be there. It's a one-week celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico's patron saint. Each night there's a parade with floats, dancers and bands through the streets ending at the cathedral. It's a great experience.
