I'm trying to pare down my packing list, and am wondering about closet storage on the Amsterdam and whether I should bring my own hangers. How many are provided in the cabins, and if we ask for extras, can they provide them?

Usually I have found that there are too many hangers, and I have to stash some. My mother once found none in their cabin and she had to ask for some. They were provided.

As to exactly how many hangers are provided, I have no idea.
However, like Revneal, I've found there are too many. But then again, I pack most of my clothing on hangers and have to protect my good ones from the cabin steward.
40 cruises: mainly Cunard, Carnival, HAL, NCL, RCI, Starclipper, Seabourn. ~511 days total, ~325 on HAL

On the Ryndam on the Main Deck, there were maybe 6 wooden hangers in each of two closets. I prefer clothes to hang rather than using shelves and drawers, so I took my own very inexpensive wire hangers. Used every one that I packed for hubby and myself.
"Thanks to all for your help & advice. Our May 28th cruise was much better for it!"

On a recent cruise on the new Westerdam in an "S" class cabin I had so many wooden hangers that I had to take some out of the closet to make room for my clothes!

I asked for extra hangers twice this cruise. Received more wooden hangers each time.
There's a chocolate on my pillow!

I ALWAYS take extra! particularly skirt hangers! need to let clothes "hang-out" the wrinkles...I WILL NOT IRON on vacation! By taking my own I can hang clothes in the bath while I take a steamy, relaxing bath!

I used to take skirt hangers, but find now that most of the wooden hangers have the clips on them for hanging skirts, pants and shorts and no longer bother taking a couple of the folding type plastic skirt/pant hangers.

but never enough! (and if you consider there will be three women in our cabin this time (not just me and hubby)...I'll take TWICE as many!

We have always had to ask for more hangers. There were never enough. They were very good about getting us extra, however.

I wouldn't bother! A request to your Steward will bring as many as you need!

We pack everything with wire hangers for space and use them for hanging in the closets when appropriate to provide extra room for the stuff that needs wood or skirt hangers.
We find that, by using wire hangers when possible, the closets more than adequately accomodate the bulkier garments and hangers.
And yes, the Steward will always provide more hangers when needed.

Hangers are never a problem - the line supplies plenty...
What I wanna know is how do I request more closet space?

We had too many hangers, mostly because that was the one question I forgot to ask on here, so I took all the hangers I needed from home hehehehe. They will also give you more if you ask for them which my Mom always does.
