In the carryon luggage that you can scan and carry on...(not give to porters) what is the largest you have carried on??? In Ft Lauderdale our 30" did not go thru so we had to give to porter, I would rather carry on mine..so am asking for your assistance in what is largest size you have carried yourself on to ship in Tampa???
Thank you

All the scanners at all the piers are the same size - airport size. So your 30 inch piece of luggage will not go through.

I know the 30" wont work..what I am after is the largest size anyone here has taken onboard themselves before I go buy new luggage.
Like 25" or 24" ect
Thanks

Don't forget that if you board before 1:30- 2 pm you will not be going straight to your cabin and will be taking your carry-on to the Lido for lunch. We just take a small bag on wheels, 20" I think, with valuables such as meds, jewelry, makeup, camera and docs and my purse or a tote bag. We really don't want to lug around luggage and once you have given your larger luggage to the porter it will be in your cabin shortly, maybe even before you are. :)

I don't believe cruise ships have size limits on what you can carry on board - it's the airlines that restricts carry-on baggage - it must fit under the seat in front of you and have a maximum weight of 10 lbs. Air crews, these days, are refusing to heft overweight carryons into overhead bins - and I don't blame them.
Having all your 'stuff' with you when you board is fine but, please, have a thought for others. You'll be using elevators and escalators - a 27" bag, even on wheels, is space consuming and downright dangerous getting on an off escalators.

A couple things.
HAL, at least on the Veendam had express disembarkation. They were called about 7:30a to carry off their own luggage. We had a late flight so we did the regular service.
We have a duffle type bag with wheels. I think it would fit through the scanner, at least it did when I sailed 11/01. It's long but that's not a problem.
Cruiselines don't have a limit on luggage but if it doesn't go through the scanner you have to have a porter take it.
