You guys might have seen this already, but I just came across it. Not a good way to end a cruise...

I expect some to say that this is the way to handle PAX who dress casual on formal nights. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But Mandygirl - she apparently HAD paid her fine before cruising according to your link.
"U.S. Magistrate Judge John O'Sullivan, who had a copy of a citation indicating the fine had been paid, apologized to Clarke, who spent nearly nine hours in detention, and demanded that the U.S. attorney's office determine what went wrong"
Just another occurrence of US law enforcement agencies not checking their facts yet again.
And do they really need to shackle people for alleged nonpayment of a $50 fine?
Are they still in the Dark Ages?
Does this seem reasonable to US citizens on this board or am I out of line on this?

OOHH, I`m glad I don`t have any tickets!!! I for one don`t see a need for leg shackles, isn`t handcuffs enough? Everyone who takes teenagers cruising, make sure they don`t have any outstanding parking or speeding tickets. We all know how moms and dads are the last to find out when our kids get a ticket!!!....jean

Glad we don't have any outstanding fines or tickets. Of course we never have gotten any. But - still that is scary.

And all for $50 which had already been paid anyway! Haven't they got better things to do and people to chase?
