Hello all!

Just looking for a little advice from past Maasdam passengers. We're new to Maasdam and have a choice to book a cruise in cabin 545 or 683. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these cabins to help us choose which one to take? It looks like the difference is location on the Main Deck, with 545 being forward, and 683 one of the farthest back cabins. Also, is there a difference in categories, with 545 being a DA and 683 being an E, or is that just indicative of the location?

Thanks for any help!

Sailsalot,
It looks to me as if 545 and 683 are the same size cabin and both starboard on Main deck.
I've never heard of a DA, though. My old book shows 545 as a D. The cabins far aft may be a bit narrower but I wouldn't think so.
I guess your choice will be forward or aft. There's not as much distance to walk on Maasdam compared to the R and Vistas.
We really like Maasdam. Good luck on your choice.

What about the noise & vibration on the Maasdam aft? I don't know, but I have seen posts regarding this problem. May be something to consider.

I was on Maasdam last month A Deck Port side mid ship. We had no problems with either noise or vibration. I think that came from being mid ship, because we could feel occasional vibration in the Dinning Room which is far aft. We had booked a Oceanview guarantee, and got upgraded to a Catagory D, which we thought was great. My thoughts are you get more motion both forward and aft, but seem to get little or no vibration forward. Therefore I would prefer being more forward to aft. It is a fantastic ship, with a wonderful crew, and it's getting all the SOE upgrades and refurbishments now, so either way you should have a great trip. Good luck, any other questions, I'd be glad to try and answer.

Hands down I'd take 545. You're not too far from the elevators, not to mention the escalators up to Atrium. It's a quick trip up to the Ocean Bar and you'd pretty much come out in the thick of things as you go up.

In the aft the only thing you're near is the dining room ... also a pretty quick trip up to the aft pool.

When in doubt, I generally choose a more mid-ship location. In case you hit rough seas, you're always better off.

Well, in the end, it looks like I don't have to make a decision after all. When I tried to get my travel agent to book the 545 cabin, it was already booked, so we took 683. I hope we won't be too disappointed! I think 545 had the better location, but frankly, I'm just happy to get on the ship for this particular cruise, as every outside cabin is now booked. It's one of the New England/Canada cruises coming up in the fall. Thanks everyone for your feedback. I hope there will be someone who has good things to say about cabin #683!!

I spent 35 days aft of the aft elevator on Lower Promenade last summer. I was perfectly happy with the location.
It was a quick jaunt to coffee in the morning.:) And since the ship really isn't very large it also wasn't too far to toddle home at night.
I found no problem with vibration, with the possible exception of docking.

You'[ll be happy there! I just meant given the choice I'd go with 545. But as Ruth said, since the ship is a bit smaller than the Vista class, you'll have no problem getting around!

Have a wonderful time!
