Fleet Week in New York- May 26 to June 1

Those boarding the Navigator in New York on May 26th should be aware that day is the beginning of Fleet week and you may encounter traffic problems getting to the pier as the Intrepid Naval Museum is next door.
Those boarding the previous day in Norfolk will have the opportunity to enjoy the nearby Fleet Week activities while in New York.

I thought this was going to be Fleet Week. That will be nice to see all the ships in port along with some sailors!!! Is it fairly easy to walk to the Times Square area from where the ship is docked?

You can walk to Times Square from the dock. It is less than a mile. Walk 5 blocks east to Broadway and about 10 blocks south to 42nd Street.

Thanks for the info. We are disembarking that day and I want to make sure we leave enough time to make our flight. Also, couldn't decide whether to do a few days post or pre cruise but now I think we'll do the pre cruise in N.Y.

Thanks Dolphins - sounds like we'll be able to walk and not have to take a cab. SOunds like it's going to be very busy around the pier.

Are there any interesting activities open to the public for Fleet Week. We will be in New York for four days prior to boarding Navigator.

I believe all Navy ships visiting New York during Fleet Week will be open to the public. In addition, the Intrepid aircraft carrier museum and the submarine berthed alongside are open to the public all year round.
