I have seen pax carrying a large purse or tote around everywhere they go, in a cashless soceity what do you think they carry???
Can't wait to see your responses...

I usually carry a small purse at night---just because it's "dress-up". Toss my lipstick and room key in it. It's handy for those drink receipts, too.
But during the day? Never. Tuck my cabin key in a (shall we say?) safe spot;) and off I go.

Unless I amk in a bathing suit, I always carry my wallet. I know while on the ship , all i need is my card to purchase anything, but its a hard habit to break. :)
As for my wife. Once she is aboard, that is the end of the purse . With the exception of an evening bag on formal night.
Even on shore excursions, she just puts her wallet in the tote bag we bring ashore.
Her purses cost more than my car *LOL* So she doesn't want to risk getting sand and salt water all over them.

Nope, Never. When I travel I used a Fanny pack that once I get on the ship gets locked up in the room safe with the exception of going ashore on port days. In the evening I am always with DH so I do not even bother to bring my own card with me and during the day if I am out and about without DH I do like Ruth. As for evening bags I did that for the first couple of cruises and found that it was too easy to lay them down some where and forget them so why bother. It is not like it makes or breaks my Formal Attire:D

I rarely carry anything if I can get away with it...prefer the freedom of not being hindered....does anyone use a money belt or some such item that would be accessable but not out in plain view? not sure I like the wallet-in-the-tote-bag idea while in port...too easy to grab and run...also, I once saw a lanyard/harness kind of thing for carrying a water bottle on the shoulder...anyone know where to get such an item?

at night I bring a small clutch along, even casual nights, I have a very simple white clutch bag where I put my room key, some tissues, lipstick and liner, and my little pill box for my medication to be taken with evening meal.....I rarely get to use my "small clutch purses-informal or evening/beaded" ever so this is a good opportunity!!!
During the day I use a HAL tote bag or I have a purse/tote where I keep a book, my Sudoku puzzle book, clip on sunglasses, room key, tylenol - and with LOTS OF ROOM to spare for when I go shopping on board the ship (while hubby is catching a few rays or snoozing) -- and then I come back with nothing in hand and he's non the wiser!!!! hahahaha
but as far as a purse like I use at home, no - I don't pack any like that - it's either small casual or a straw tote bag
If you're in Nassau - you may find a nice tote in the Straw Market!!!

Being a card-key carrying member of Corporate America, I have a pouch and a laynard for my ship's key while on bard ship. Off ship in port, I generally carry either a fanny pack and/or a large tote bag for my purchases. Except for dinner at night when I carry a cute little clutch purse.

Yes to both questions. I wouldn`t know what to do with my hands if I didn`t have some type of purse! Ususally onboard it will be a tote/beach bag type...........carry a book, camera, cigs, lotion etc. etc. At night a small evening type purse. My DH always has his wallet.
BTW, water bottles on a strap can be purchased at www.magellans.com
a travel shop.........jean:cool:

I sometimes carry a small tote ... often the actual canvas bag that HAL provides in the cabin. In it I put my book and my cigarettes ... perhaps a couple of mints ... whatever. I just carry the stuff I might want to have handy so that I don't have to run all the way back to the cabin to get if I need it.

I am a mom with kids still at home. I ALWAYS carry a big shoulder purse with me. Why? Because it's full of stuff the rest of the family always seems to need: tissues, purell, handlotion, a hairbrush, pieces of paper and a pen, a small flashlight, etc. (you get the idea). I can't imagine that I would travel with less on a cruise. If anything, I'll be carrying everyone's bug repellent, sunscreen, cameras, extra articles of clothing, a bottle of water, and on and on.......I hope I have a big enough bag!
Just call me "the beast of burden"

On board the ship, I usually carry only my card and key in my pocket. On shore I use a fanny pack and a bag for purchases. In the evening I usually carry a small evening bag with key and card inside.
Did you ever wonder what Queen Elizabeth carries in her purse?

DH never carries a wallet with him while on the ship.
But I always have a tiny purse for my tissues, lipstick and room key.

mim, if you love Magellans, be sure to check out Travelsmith.com, too. Similar stuff and wonderful.
Kakalina, I never carry a bag onboard except a small bag at dinner mostly because I always bring my camera to dinner along with my key and a lipstick. During the day I pop my roomcard in my pocket and off I go! Wallets, etc., are in the safe. Same with DH.
A lot of people have those thingies around their necks with their roomcard, but I just don't like the look. Feels like a badge:) . Although I never leave home without some kind of bag, I never feel odd without it on the ship.

I don't carry a purse AT ALL during the entire trip
For the airplane, I carry a travel-wallet with a small wallet within.
Then I just put it in my carry-on.
For the ship, I just carry a key-card around with me or give it to DH to carry.
Then for excursions I carry a travel carrier with room for my camera and small wallet. But, it's not a purse, it barely can fit the wallet and the camera.
I'm going to have to get a bigger one for Alaska though since my camera won't fit......
*I know, very un-girly of me*

I always carry my ship card and driver's license, along with a few bucks for tip money, and a photocopy of my passport, inside a little zipper pouch that hangs on a strong nylon cord around my neck. DH takes his wallet and if we're shopping he takes a shopping bag (HAL gave us a nice roomy one) with any other supplies we might need like water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and camera. My purse stays safely in the cabin through the whole cruise, and I occasionally take a small evening bag on formal evenings just for the tissues. However, it is a nuisance when we have a dance, as it has to be left lying on a chair or table and is easily forgotten.

Think about tossing a small hand-sanitizer in that tote! I might be a bit paranoid, but if I mistakenly touch a handrail, I give myself a blast! ;)

Yes I carry a purse, usually, with my glasses and hand moisturizer. With the Norwalk virus rearing its ugly head on our last cruise I washed very often and needed moisturizer to glue my skin back on. I was horrified at the number of women who left the public bathrooms without washing their hands!

When I get on board all I carry are my sunglasses and my room key on a lanyard. DH will carry camera if he wants a picture of something. Evening bag for camera, room key, lipstick and tissue. For ports I have a travel bag from LLBean for water, wallet, camera, sunscreen and sunglasses. Everything else goes into the safe.
Ideal vacation would be not having to carry a thing except sunglasses.

I stopped carrying a big purse a number of years ago - seems I was always hauling things for DH and DS. Onboard I don't carry a purse during the day - I usually tuck my room card in my pocket or in my digital camera bag. For evenings I use a nice little beaded bag that is only big enough to hold lipstick, room key and a couple of tissues. Yes, I suppose there will have to be some room also for the hand sanitizer, now that I think about it - I'll see if I can get the wet-wipe tissue kind because they take up less room. Harder on the environment, but less room ... there's always something, isn't there?
Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

I never carry a purse on board - in the evening it is a small evening bag for the room key, comb and epipen. During the day I carry a tote bag mostly because I have to carry the epipen which is bulky, but also for a book, sunglasses, hat, pills for DH and now hand sanitizer. I like to use a lanyard for the room key and safe key as I feel they are more secure worn that tucked in a pocket.

I never carry a purse while on board. I make sure all the shorts/capris I bring have deep pockets for my room key. For shore excursions I have a wardrobe of what you could call hiking pants/ shorts/ capris. They are nylon type fabric(which I guess you could wash out in the tub if you had to) but the great thing is that they have lots of pockets that secure with velcro or zippers. I can put my ID and ship card in one pocket close it and never have to touch it again until I reboard. A small travel wallet holds a credit card and some cash. My small digital camera fits in another pocket. If I need a tote bag for sunscreen or such it has nothing valuable in it. I have a pair of slacks and a pair of capris that have zip off legs to transform into shorts. (I still manage to overpack, but hey we drive to the port:) )
