Looking at the deck plan, the aft suites that are the SC's seem to have much larger balconies than the SB and SA, and even look like the room may be bigger. Is the balcony a wrap-around? It will cost us about $500 less than the SB, and we have been in aft suites before on NCL and Celebrity (bigger suites however). First time on HAL, want the best possible without going for the largest suites. We were on Princess this Feb, and the room was the best thing on the ship. Sorry we won't have the curtain separating the sleeping from living area, or the 2 TV's, but will not go back on Princess.

The SC balconies on the aft are HUGE. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say you can put 30 people out there. There are 2 chaise lounges, 2 chairs with ottomans and a round table with 4 chairs and still lots of room. The balcony does indeed wrap around the side and the side balcony is covered. When we were on the Zuiderdam a couple years ago, we put our eating table on the side so we could have our lunches in the shade and one day moved the chaises on the side as it was raining and a great spot for a nap. The aft end of the balcony is not covered, offering privacy concerns to some but not to us. We love the aft SC's.

We had a SC aft on the Zuiderdam March 25th. It was amazing. The balacony was huge. We had all the furniture mentioned above and plenty more room. I think it was one of the best parts of the trip for us, especially when the captian docked aft first. We had no issues with privacy and meet some really nice people surrounding us.
Would highly recommend it. Don't know if sailing again without it would ever match up.
Book it and have fun.

Robinsilver, Which ship are you considering? You can click the link below of my webshots and view any of the Oosterdam pictures from October 2005 and Feb 2006. We were in aft 5187, that is truly our favorite cabin. I would love to see aft picture of the Noordam SC suites, we are strongly considering returning to Alaska next year on the Noordam and would love to see pictures of that ship's aft cabins and if there is a difference as to which deck may be slightly bigger or if they are all exactly the same. On the first three Vista Class ships, the Zuirderdam, Oosterdam and Westerdam the Verrandah Deck 5th floor cabins are the largest as well as the balcony.

Thanks Laffnvegas, great pics. Now the dilemma, do I go for the bigger balcony, which is of course great, or, it seems that the other suite pictures from an earlier cruise, not sure which ship, have a larger sitting area.

Enjoy those aft SC suites on the Vista class before they go away in the next three years as the three will be retrofitted to add more cabins in the aft section. Just like the Noordam. HAL apparently feels there is too much wasted space in the aft section.
