I am booked on the Zaandam for July 28, and it looks like I am going to have to cancel before my final payment is due in a couple months. However, there is still a chance that I will be able to go on the cruise, but I won't know until a couple weeks before the ship sails.

I am wondering if there are usually cabins available that late, a week or two before the ship sails, and if so, are they usually more or less expensive than they would be when I booked this in January.

I basically will be calling up a week or two before the ship sails trying to get a cabin. What are the possibilities??

Thanks in advance

It's always possible, especially as there are more ships than ever in Alaska - but it would probably help to be flexible a week or so in each direction...

Unfortunately I cannot be flexible in my dates as my kids are away at camp and I already have these airline tickets.

Guess I'll wait and see.

You should be able to find space on SOME ship. Maybe not HAL, maybe another line, but some ship.

Keep checking with HAL & Various internet sites; however, it's rare to see a sailing advertised leaving in less than 7 days.

Cabins, if any, will most likely be insides or Ocean view. It will be a Guarantee cabin, so you will have no control over your location. As for price, last year I saw some great deals for last-minute Alaska cruises, but on specific dates & ships...

HAL, usually doesn't have the fire sales that Princess does, but they do unload space on Skyauction.
