We can somewaht (6 hrs) easiely drive to Norfolk and I have been told that there are stay/park hotels for cruisers. Has anyone sailed out of Norfolk during Jan or Feb. ? One of the reasons for going south is to get away from winter. How long does it take before you reach warm weather?

Hey mountainmare - nice point, I'm interested too as we are only 2+ hours out of Norfolk.

I suspect that the embarkation day would be fairly cool, maybe even cold, but when you wake up the next morning, you'll be equal to or further south than Florida, so it should be comparative warm at that point.

PS: aren't you closer to Baltimore than Norfolk??

I'll be keeping an eye on this post - I could use the info.... thanks for bringing it up!!

Does anyone have a list of the hotels that offer the park/shuttle?

I called Norfolk 800 nimber on their website and was told that this was arranged by AAA. If you are a member your local club can get that info for you. Be sure to check the CC boards for more insight before you book. The HAL board had a discussion where the Radisson was nixed because of location. If all else fails just call the hotel that appeals to you and ask. It seems that Norfolk is looking at the cruise industry as a good thing, some hotels may go out of their way to encourage a new pool of clients.
