We went to Costa Maya on our Grandeur of the Seas cruise last December and will be going back there on the Miracle this summer.
We loved Mahjual (sp?). Spent the whole day there- massages, shopping, went out on a local snorkeling boat, and ate there.
We'd like to stop there briefly this summer maybe for hour or two after a 1/2 day tour of some sort. Any recommendations that might fit this? If you know of a local tour company we could do something with from early a.m. till 1:00 or so that would be perfect. We'd just like to see a little more of the area but still save some time to go back there before heading back to the ship.
Thanks for any suggestions!!!

DW and I was in Costa Maya last March. We did the Ivan and David tour of the ruins. We met them in Majahual about 8:15 and the tour ended there about 12:30.

Check out the several reviews about their services, they were good !

We used the independent taxi guides - yellow vans there and the service has improved fabulously, along with a dispatcher with radio and cellphone, much like we found in Belize, and they are located at the terminal exit on the left. Ditto for Roatan. I have come to like the organized shore groups in the Western Caribbean. Good show, fellows. Keep it up. We pay half the price for double the fun, and smaller more personalized groups. Happy cruisers, we are!!!

We were there last August on the Miracle, we went on the Chaccoben tour with David from David and Ivan. This was the high point of our entire cruise. We'd highly recommend it. We had plenty of time in Maharal. I especially enjoyed sitting at The Cat's Meow, drinking a cold drink, and looking at the Miracle off in the distance.

The David and Ivan tour was very interactive. My 11 and 14 year olds loved it. Would highly recommend them. We did the extended tour we found on their web site, and it included an awesome Mayan meal.

idlewood4 - Was this the one with the kayaking? If so, how much kayaking was involved and was it optional?
