Here is something I posted at www.tripadvisor.com (http://www.tripadvisor.com) about a scam at Pancho's in Cabo San Lucas. Similar things happen at the Shrimp Bucket; go to travel advisor and search for: Panchos restaurant in Cabo San Lucas
----------------------------------
The food at Pancho's is truly authentically Mexican and superb! For our recent cruise to Mexico’s Pacific Coast we had thoroughly Internet-searched the best restaurants at each port we visited and Pancho’s in Cabo San Lucas was indeed, unquestionably the best of all! (Second was Café Pacifico in Mazatlan.) If you like or want to explore the best in Mexican food, going to Pancho’s is a must!

Ah, BUT MAKE SURE YOU EXAMINE THE BILL THOROUGHLY!!! Take careful note of the price posted on the menu and compare it to the charges on the bill. What happens is that the menu is in dollars, but the bill comes in pesos. Guess what? The prices get inflated. E.g. a US$5 Guacamole side-order which should be around 53 pesos got billed at 88, and their top-of the-house dish (for two) at US$24, got billed upward by a similar percentage. Bring a calculator if necessary and don’t be shy to ask for a menu to scrutinize the bill.

In our case I came upon the realization of this trick once we were two blocks away, yet I decided to NOT go back and argue. My wife and I had only a few hours before getting back on the cruise ship and having been robbed of some US$8 was not worth ruining a great day.

Instead, in my views of poetic justice in the universe, I wish to promote Pancho’s success by posting this to rave about the GOURMET QUALITY of their food, while at the same time hoping that forewarned customers would teach them that cheating is not the way to operate. As nearly 2,000 of us cruise-ship-tourists landed in Cabo for only a few hours, I found it amazing that cruising tourists occupied only one-or-two other tables for lunch. Thus, I am also going to post this message in the Cabo forum at www.cruisecritics.com (http://www.cruisecritics.com/) - so more cruising tourists can enjoy savoring the best in Mexican food. In addition to the food quality, another happy note is that Corona beers were properly billed at 22 pesos each – two bucks.

PS- In fairness to the restaurant owner, it is entirely possible that this scam is being perpetrated by the staff, without his/her knowledge. The guy who tended our table seemed to be a high-ranking waiter by the name of Ricardo – beware. Next I’ll print a copy of this and mail it to Pancho’s.
