We are scheduled to sail on 4/4 on the Dawn and were wondering if the Championship NCAA game will be available. I am a Duke fan and DH has OK State in the office pool. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Princess does a good job of making sure they carry the big games. We were on the Grand in January for the AFC and NFC championships, and they were broadcast in the sports bar. It was a lot of fun watching with fans from all the teams -- but since we are Patriots fans, it was especially satisfying!!

Hello prpro. I grew up in Lancaster and graduated from Duke! I hoping you get the chance to watch Duke on the Dawn--that means they made the Championship game. I think UCONN is going to be tough to beat!
Go Duke!

Small world! I did my graduate work at UNC Charlotte and moved back home when I was finished with that. I certainly have a mixed allegiance to the Carolina teams. I hope that the ship gets the game. Whoever makes it to the final will ensure that the game will be good.

You have to hope that the sattelites are able to pick up the games. We were on the Golden during the 2001 World Series and were unable to pick up 2 of the games. The tried their best but were unable to pick it up. We ended up watching basketball one night and soccer the next night. The games when we did see them were also televised on the mexican version of ESPN and had to listen to it in spanish.
Good Luck,
Mike

WARNING: TYPICAL CGT GADFLY COMMENT
Oh God, if a stupid sports game is that important to you (or soap opera, awards show, season finale, etc...), schedule your cruise another time so you can stay home and be a couch potato watching televison (or get a DVR like Tivo etc.) http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif. Cruises are where you get away from it all...

CGT, this seems a little judgmental. My family and I have many interests and enjoy them all. Cruising is high on the list, but we come from Boston and are big Red Sox and Patriots fans. Most people make their cruise reservations far in advance, and it's hard to predict when a big game might come up. No one is saying this is the highlight of their life, just that they'd like to see the game , if possible. What's the problem with that????? Princess seems to understand and makes the big games available to their passengers, when possible, and I think this is a point in their favor. We watched the Patriots win the AFC championship from the Grand in January and enjoyed it immensely --- then we went on to enjoy the rest of our trip.

Cruises are not where you get away from it all. They are a wonderful vacation because of the CHOICES they offer. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would want to read a book on a cruise, or sit in a hot tub, or lay in the sun, or gamble, or dress in formal attire, or chill on their balcony, etc. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Taking a couple of hours to watch a "stupid" sporting event is EXACTLY what vacationing (cruising) is all about. Maybe not for YOU, but for a lot of folks.
This is a great forum for prpro to ask the question.

So...if some people like Personal Choice dining so much perhaps they should just forget cruising, get a hotel somewhere and go to different restaurants every night??? Good logic there sweetie. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Just sit back...and relax.

Well I am a UK fan and basketball is in our blood. We happened to be on the Carnival Paradise last year and did watch Syracuse win it all. I had to watch or the bball police would have picked me up at the airport the minute the plane landed in Lexington, KY. It's the law!http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
P.S. Go Cowboys!
No work, no kids, no dog, no stress . . . just sun and fun and food on . . . April 2005!

My suggestion is don't bother to watch since Duke and Oklahoma State are both out-and I had them in my pools. I am not happy about it. Now it's Ga. Tech v. ESPN(UConn).

Gotta root for Georgia Tech. Paul Hewitt is one of the best coaches in the country. He started his coaching career in this city making $150,000 and now he is making $1million a year. He knows how to work with his players and has a good repoirte with then. Just look were they are now. GO YELLOWJACKETS!

UConn is ESPN2. Duke is ESPN. Last night it was the "Deuce" vs. ESPN. If I have to choose I will take ESPN2 over ESPN.
