Has anyone used a service on the ship in which the photo studio downloads digital pictures from your camera and saves them to CD for you throughout the cruise?
We are not taking our laptop, and don't have many memory cards. I think I heard about a service like this that you can purchase from the studio. Any opinions?

I've often found that the onboard photo studio is usually very busy and/or more expensive. Try going to a photo lab at one of your ports. Make sure that they will let you take a look at the burned cd afterwards so you will feel comfortable in deleting all of the pictures from your memeory card. I got great service and good prices in Alaska where it cost $11 and $15 to have cd's burned - all in an hour.

Just got back from 30 days on the Star. You can set up a "Digital Account" for $19.95 and they'll download as may memory cards as you like throughout the cruise. You get an index print for each download. At the end of the cruise they'll burn a CD for you (price dependent upon the number of images). Or------

You can burn a CD from your card for $9.95 up to 256MB. Over 256MB is $14.95. This is the option I used. I have a 256MB card and downloaded it to a CD twice and brought some images back on the card from the last couple of days.

They will download within an hour or two to their hard disk. Show you the images so you know it's safe to reformat your card and you can pick up the CD the next day. I really thought the service was quite reasonable.

We also used the service on the ship, we bought a deal that was about $50 for 600+MB worth of downloads and then had them burned to a CD at the end of the week. We had them check the CD before we left and low and behold they had burned someone elses pics! So be warned, check the CD before you leave the ship. Can you imagine getting home and finding someones elses pics and NONE of your own.... oooh how awful would that have been. BTW they do keep your pics from the whole week until after the cruise is over.

Cheers,
Kim
