I just had some Princess brochures mailed to my home, and included with a booking is a promotion for a Free Onboard Value Booklet. Does anyone know what is in it? And if so, do you also know if that can be used with an shipboard credit? I'm considering a 10 day Western Caribbean cruise, and curious about this promotion.

When we've gotten shipboard credits, the amount just came off our tab of charges on the ship. So in essence, it can be used for anything. I don't know about the content of the booklets and have wondered about that as well.

Generally, the coupon/value booklet has coupons. To use the coupons requires that you still spend a good bit of money, for example: $$ off an expensive spa treatment. There may be some good values if you were planning on doing that activity anyway.

My TA told me that it contained some coupons that you may actually use...like free drink & free photo. I'm getting one too, but I can't find much info about what all the booklet contains.

We are also getting those on the 17th Diamond, from what I understand it is a 2fer kind of thing, buy one get one free.. as long as you were thinking about buying the first thing, that is a value. I also think there is some match play coupons for the casino which if there are two of you can both bet opposite and net the $5 or whatever. I look at it like a "Fun Book" you get when you check into a hotel in Vegas.

Thanks for your responses. I agree that if its something I was going to do/use anyway, then its an added bonus and as a solo cruiser, not really an incentive to spend additional money.

I just returned from the Golden, and left my two Value Coupon Books in my room untouched. There were coupons for two Bloody Mary's or martini's for the price of one, but before noon. There was also a free 8 x 10 photo if you bought 3( No one bought that size photo, the ones ususally offered were 5 x 7 . There was also a $5.00 match for a bet in the casino. I should have given the coupon books away, because they were not of value to me.

Lofty, thanks for filling me in. It doesn't sound like I'll be using them either.
