hi, i am new to princess and was wondering if
when you book a cruise on board can you
use a different travel agent than the one
you used for the current trip? We used
travelocity but would like to change for
the next one.

Yes, you can do that, or you can just book using the same travel agent and then change it once you get back home.

Sure. You can use whoever you want to. Booking on board get's you up to $50 pp onboard credit and the ability to hold a cruise for $100. You don't even have to commit to a specific cruise, it's all fully refundable and you have 4 years to use it.

That's what I did.

Princess deposited the $100 into my Captain's Circle Savings account to be used later which I did when I got back home.

Happy Cruising

Check this post (http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=887097554&m=348100801) to see how people feel about their TA. The onboard deposit for a future cruise is an easy no-brainer. $100 a person, use the TA of your choice, get future onboard credit, have 4 years to decide on which cruise to take, and it is fully refundable.

thanks for the info. this is very different
than rci. you have to book a particular
cruise and use your previous agent or rci.
this sounds pretty good.

Could somebody please explain how this all works? Do you get some kind of discount? Or do you just get the $50 credit. I am very curious about this. Thanks

You don't even have to designate a TA or particular cruise. Just leave it open.

The onboard booking is great because of the low $100 per person deposit. Nothing else is due until final payment time. Your cabin credit depends on length of cruise and class of cabin booked ... up to $150 PP ... but it's a "freebie" for you in exchange for making the open booking.

If you decide you never want to sail Princess again, or at least not within the 4 year time limit, your deposit is refunded in full.

It's a win-win situation and a no-brainer IMO.

For our last cruise, we had no problems having our booking made directly with Princess. We switched it over to a local TA when we were sure we could go.

And now we have an open booking--just waiting for some time off from work and a great deal to come along.

We are going to book at least one, wish I had done so on the two Princess cruises I have coming up, love those cabin credits, we don't usally buy much aboard but it is nice not to make the "little-girl-seeing-a-spider-noise" when you open your statement. We will also transfer it to our TA as service is, in our opinion better when the person providing it is directly involved (commission) in your happiness.

Sue, if you want 2 cabins, you still only need to make 2 deposits for a total of $200. Have DH in one cabin and you in the second, at least when you book. You can easily change once onboard.

BTW, you need to remove your countdown clock from your signature.

Thanks Bruce. I can get 2 cabins for only $100 apiece? If that is true, that is awesome. I will remove it now. Thanks Sue

We did an on board booking on the Sun last Jan. and were told we would receive a confirmation in the mail. When it didn't come we called Princess. We were then told it was a valid booking and they gave us a booking number. Asked for a written confirmation and were told they were not equiped to do that. It has still not shown up as a Capt. Circle Credit. Would not book on board again.

We (Mom, Sis and I)did on board bookings on the Grand last year and we each booked seperate cabins for the next cruise. We did have to pay $200 deposit per cabin, not just $100. My Mom and Sister used their husbands names for their other passengers and I just had a "too be determined" roommate.
