I have read here that Princess is fairly easy to bring wine and champagne on board. What do you do to get your wine for dinner in the dining rooms? Do you just walk in with it? Thank you.

Yes you can, you may be charged a corkage fee though.

We occassionaly bring our own wine on board and we have found if you buy wine too, the stewards often "forget" about the corkage. It often depends oh who you get. We have also given it to our room steward to have sent down for dinner and that works too, although under those circumstance there is "always" a corkage fee.

I read on another board that you could open it yourself in your room and bring it open. I find it hard to believe you can walk around with an open bottle, but thats what I read.

Wow, and I thought that it was inappropriate to walk in the dining room with your own bottle still closed. Has anyone ever seen someone with an open bottle?

Also, if you do not finish your bottle, your waiter will put your name on it and keep it for you until you request it the next evening.

We carried an unopened bottle to the dining room most nights. I felt comfortable doing so.

The corkage fee is for bringing the wine. I think they could still charge it even for an opened bottle--although I've never seen anyone bringing an opened bottle.

We were charged for five out of six bottles on our most recent cruise (Grand in December). On the Star Princess last summer, we weren't charged.

We've opened most of the bottles brought to the dining room. Because they've been agitated by the trip to the ship, we find the wine tastes better after being aired for an hour before consumption.

Corkage is a hit and miss thing. We've been charged about half the time during our cruises. PC more often than not.
