We are on the Nautica on 14th July.....

Do Oceania help in organising a get together for others on this Board.....

How soon do we need to let them know numbers etc and where is a good place to meet.....I assume a Sea Day is best for "tea" but if you are sailing with us. please let me have your thoughts

Not sure how elaborate a get together you are looking for. Maybe Joan24 will see your post and respond. When we went in February, she was our organizer. Of course, we met in Martini's for drinks prior to dinner on one of our early cruise evenings - I think it was our 2nd night, 1st full sea day.
She posted on here to gather our group and gather we did. Probably had 8 or 9 couples, can't remember for sure. Pulled some chairs up around a coffee table and many of the fellas stood. We saw another group who had name tags, you might want to consider that. But, you still don't know who gets a name tag until you've met a few. But getting together is a great idea. We saw those folks several times (almost every day since the ship is such a great size) over the course of the cruise. Had dinner with and actually got to know several (and are keeping in touch with them) as a result of that get together. In answer to your question, since we just did drinks, no food, we really did not need any assistance from the cruise personnel.

Well, Brian,
We're up for it...We certainly look forward to meeting you and the others who have posted here.

There's certainly plenty of opportunity up front...We board on the 14th and stay docked in Istanbul...We're likely playing those two days by ear, though it looks like we may just use that day on the 15th for a Bosporus half-day cruise...but, if we all can agree on a time, perhaps we work our schedule around that...And the third day, of course, is "at sea", cruising the Bosporus...

Maybe the best time to arrange something is late afternoon on the 14th after everyone's checked in, done with their day sightseeing...and before anyone is heading off to dinner...?

Hi Brian,
We got together as Linda (PA Nana) said on our second evening at Martinis Bar. If there are several of you meeting, Horizons is a good choice. We only had about a dozen people, Martinis was fine. There is afternoon tea at Horizons every day at 4:00, so if you want to meet in the afternoon, that's a good place. Just keep posting and asking people to meet. You can also post on the Yahoo Oceania board. I think most people love the idea of getting together, usually early in the cruise. It's a great way to find people to share tours and just get together during the cruise. Have a wonderful cruise.

Hi,

On our recent Beijing to Hong Kong cruise, we all planned to be in Horizons for a drink about 6:00 p.m. before anyone went to dinner on the first day at sea (which was the day after we sailed). There were about 60 of us on line. Well, the cruise line had a speaker set for 6:00 p.m. in the Nautica lounge and Friday night services were set in the Library. So, four of us sat at the bar in Horizons waiting and waiting. By the time the other people arrived, the band started playing and the lights were dimmed. It was very difficult to speak or greet anyone coming into Horizons to join us.

So, if I were to organize a "meet and greet" for more than 8 or 10, I would ask everyone to meet at 4:00 p.m. in Horizons during Afternoon Tea. You could go in earlier and save a section for a group. If 8 or 10, I would certainly agree that the Martinis Bar would be a great area.
