View Full Version : Duplicate Charges for Shore Excursions

If you've ordered any Shore Excursions on line in the past week or so you might want to check your credit card account to make sure they haven't charged you twice for them. I ordered one last Tue and noticed over the weekend that it appeared on my credit card account twice. I sent them an email and they responded on Monday that they knew there were duplicate charges for excursions ordered on the 2nd and that I should see a refund by the 11th. I ordered another one on Sat and noticed tonight that I was double charged for that one too. So it wasn't just a problem on the 2nd. I've sent them another email and I'm sure they'll get it straightened out but thought I'd mention it just in case someone hadn't caught the problem on their bills yet.

I just checked, and the excursion I booked on the 3rd (and was posted on the 4th) is only charged once.

I was on the shore excursions booking page last night for my October cruise. They finally put the excursions up, but don't have any there for Half Moon Cay! That's the port I specifically wanted to get booked since the day we will be anchored there, the Westerdam will be there as well ... with her 2000 or so passengers. I wanted to get my excursion booked before it is sold out. HMC only has limited capacity and with two ships in port that day, most excursions will fill up almost immediately.
So, yeah ... I'd gladly book ... if they'd put some up there. :(

I sent an email, and their automated reply stated they are overwhelmed and to be patient for a personal reply. I plan to call later tomorrow if I haven't received a direct response by then.

I booked shore excursions several months ago, in addition to being charged twice for a very expensive excursion (helicoper/glacier walk, 485/pp) I paid for two for the otter excursion and only one of us was booked! It took several phone calls, but I got it straightened out.
Everyone should check!

Well whatever the problem is they don't appear to have it fixed yet! I just checked my credit card on line and the tour I booked on Sat has now been charged to me 3 times. So guess I need to send them another email. I've only gotten the automatic response to yesterday's email. We'll see if the credit for the first one is posted tomorrow like they indicated it would be.

I just called the tour desk and they said they were very aware of the glitch in the system and everyone will be credited back the overcharges on May 11. :)

I am about to book for our October, HMC has not come up on ours either. I will be checking once or twice daily until it does. We are also there when another ship is. Just want to get my clamshell and I'll be happy as a clam. :p Off to book Virgin Gorda now, hopefully I won't be double, triple charged.

I hope they not only clear up the charging problem, but post them for us and the Westerdam at the same time. I would hate to go to book an excursion and find that everything was waitlisted because the Westerdam folks got there first. Unlike a lot of other ports, Half Moon Cay only has so much capacity for shore excursions. They have no way of adding additional capacity like other ports often can. The Westerdam is a big ship ... lots of people ... that limited capacity on HMC can fill up fast. :(

Sure glad ours are not up yet. DD and I have the book and know which ones we want for which ports, but with all this double and triple billing, glad not to have it on my card.

Quick update: Our card was credited for the multiple charges today. Check your accounts, hopefully corrections have been (or are being) made for all affected.

We got credited for the first extra charge (the one ordered on May 2nd) but didn't get anything for the two additional charges on the one ordered on May 6th yet. They haven't replied to either of the emails I've sent on the additional ones. I really really really don't want to spend an hour on the phone with them but looks like I may have to do that.

This new computer system has been a real pain in the patooey. Hope all the bugs are worked out soon.

I finally got my other two credits today! I called them last night and spent over 1/2 hr on hold and then they wouldn't even take my booking# or look up the charges or anything. They just apologized and said they knew there was a problem and they were hoping to get all the credits issued today. I never did get a response to the emails on the last 2 overcharges but she said they were way behind because of all the problems. Sure am glad I'm not in their Software Dept :) Seems like everything I've done with them over the past few months has had some type of problem with their computers or the new reservation system. Hope everyone else got their credits taken care of. I think I'll wait a few days before booking any more excursions for my trip!
