Ok everybody, I am getting mixed signals on getting Hot Hor'dourves delivered to the stateroom on the first day. I called ship services, they said it was not available. Hmmm:confused:. I was told that maybe the Neptune could do something, but probably not...
If it would work, is there a time-frame-window that they would deliver them in. Can you order for for more than 2 guests? Thanks.

We were on the Oosterdam in April & went to the Neptune as soon as it opened to request hot appetizers for sailaway. They said they could not do it on embarkation day, but could arrange a standing appointment for subsequent days. We did that and then cancelled it on Tues. The "hot" appetizers that were delivered weren't hot and mostly were deep fried items (which weren't great).

I agree - not on the first day, but you can go to the Neptune and bring some back to your cabin.
IMHO - the cold ones are much better - Shrimp, and Caviar plus other items - Yum....:p

I posted about this on another thread, but in brief, when we were on the Zuiderdam last fall we went to the Neptune Lounge upon boarding to check on certain requests made BEFORE sail date, one being getting hors d'oeuvres delivered before the initial sailaway. The VERY nice woman there informed us we would have had to request the initial delivery before sail date. I told her we did, she checked her computer, there we were and they were delivered right on time as requested. Much more food than I expected but it was great!
Actually, I faxed back in Dec. this same request for our upcoming Alaska cruise in a week or so and am calling once again in a few minutes just to confirm that it's all set. If they tell you you must do it ON the first day, I wouldn't believe them. I don't think you got that knowledgeable a person at HAL. Make sure you call ships services at 800-541-1576. I always dealt with Julie who was great, but I just heard she is no longer there. Good luck!

My suggestion is to forget the hot hors d'oeuvres on the first night.
When you board there is a lot of food available in the Lido. You can have a nice lunch. There is also food in the Neptune.
The Neptune will have cold hor d'oeuvers available late afternoon. Bring some back to your cabin.
You can also go to a lounge prior to dinner and get hors d'oeuvres. Most of the time they are hot.

I'd just work with the Neptune Lounge. It's easier and they do a great job.

I think hot would not be the way to go as most would be fried items.
Is there a charge for cold hor' dourves in the deluxe suites? If so can someone tell me how much?

There is no charge for hot or cold in an S cabin. :)

On our last couple of cruises we were told the same thing - the concierge could not arrange for hot appetizers on the first day. And after looking at some of them late, everything was fried and not very warm.
Much prefer the cold ones put out in the Neptune Lounge at 5 PM.

I don't know why everyone seems to be so down on getting the hors d'oeuvres for sailaway. We are in a Suite (and one of the corner aft ones with the huge verandah) as we were last October and it was wonderful being out on the verandah at sailaway. We had the hot AND cold hors d'oeuvres delivered and they were all delicious and no charge for S suite passengers. Again, if you really want to get them for the 1st day sailaway I would call ships services and request them since I will repeat again that the Neptune Lounge told me I should have done that first day delivery in advance, NOT with them. They could arrange the other days but not the first one for delivery to the cabin at sailaway.
Happy Sailing!

This is just a thought. Perhaps not all ships will do this on the first day. There are things that are different from ship to ship. It is possible this could be one.

I've used the "concierge lounge" on both Princess and Royal Carribean. In each, the lounge offered cocktails prior to dinner. We will be sailing for the first time on HAL in an S class (Volendam). Does the HAL Neptune Lounge serve cocktails (and Champagne for my wife)?

No....The Neptune Lounges serve no alcohol except if there is a Suite Cocktail party run there.
