I'm planning on taking a group of first-timer friends on the Noordam next May (13th) on the ship's first Alaska 7-day run of the season. I haven't been to Alaska on HAL since 1996. Realistically, how many kids (under 21) are likely to be on a mid-May sailing?

We went to Alaska the first cruise in May and there were maybe 2 young children, 2 toddlers and a baby - that is all we saw......

Most school age kids won't be out of school then, you might see a few preschool age and babies.

On my last Alaskan cruise (May 2003) there was a sprinkling of infants and toddlers, plus 2 school age children who were home schooled. Besides being cheaper, May is a great time to go to Alaska for a more adult cruise experience. However, even when I went to Alaska on HAL in July, there were still only 35 children onboard.

WE are sailing on the Westerdam on May 21st and there are 23 children under 7 years old and that was about 1 1/2 months ago that we got that information from HAL through our TA. Obviously the younger kids are not in school but we are also sailing around a statutory holiday in Canada (not sure about when Memorial day is in the US) but that may have some effect on the count.
