Okay, inaugural CP cruisers how was your cruise. I can't wait to read all the wonderful posts and see pictures. I can't believe no one posted all week, but again, if I was on the ship, I would be having too much fun! Hope to hear from you all soon. The suspense is killing me.

Yep, add me to the list as well. From what I've been able to read thus far, it appears that a lot of the passengers were first time cruisers. Anybody know of any CC members that were aboard? The only one I know of is SpongeRob and he's doing a back to back, boarding the Golden after the CP.

i have the webcam up. I watched it leave last week and saw the Golden pull off to the side to let the Carribean go out first. But I still can't tell where the Carribean is docked. Is it where the Golden used to be? In Oct, I dont remember those cranes where we boarded. Is it over where the RC and Celebrity docks?

Thanks, Chris. I am sure it is Wher the Rc and Celebrity dock. There are several docks there. But don't you worry, if I an wrong, I will hear about it. And it will be welcome. If that is where it is, Princess will probably move her to the Golden dock, when she goes to San Juan.

The Carribbean is docked where the Golden and Grand Dock. I went to the pier last week to see her off. They moved the Golden, and the Carribbean was in that slot. She goes out today and the Grand comes home tomorrow, so im sure the Grand and Carribean will be sharing the same dock, until the Grand leaves shortly.

Ok, while we're all sitting here, waiting with baited breath (always wondered what that meant! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif) does anyone agree with me on this point:

I look at the two cruise cams on the ship, one is facing the port area (which is to be expected), but the other one is wasted in my opinion, by showing an empty chapel area. That area is empty most of the time, I would venture to guess, so why have the camera on all the time there? Anyone agree that we need another camera where there's some action going on? Like, maybe over a pool area, or even the Horizon court, but why always on that darned empty chapel? http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hi Zermolly. No. Not unless I have a sick Grandchild. LOL. I have it on all the time, and do all my work around it,It is my relaxation. I am really very busy, and moving all the time in between posts. we have kind of a crazy house here. Hubby and I retired to Florida. Not. My son and his family moved down with us with the intention of getting their own place. Not. Son and wife were having problems, one reason we encouraged them to come, and sure enough, his wife left after 6 mos. So, son works alot, and I have the little guys. 5 & 8 now. 6 mos & 3 when we got here. Also, I have my mom, 93, and a mentally handicapped daughter, 42, as well. And then there is Hubby.LOL. So this and cruising is my passion. Sorry. You probably didnt want to hear all that. I get up at 7, and finally really get to sit at 9. But I wouldn't change anything. I am blessed.

What do you want to know?

I've never written a review-- don't know where to start. Ask some questions, and I'll do my best. The ship is beautiful, cruise was wonderful. There were a number of Cruise Critic members onboard. We met for sail-away and several more times during the week. It was fun to put faces to (screen) names!

I've sailed on the Grand and Golden, the CP has much the same feel. I know there was some speculation about Dolphin deck balconies--they are fully exposed--lots of sun for me!

I did traditional late seating, heard some people complaining the PC was very crowded and they had to wait. Not much different in my opinion than making a 'personal choice' to go to a restaurant and waiting to be seated. Those who wanted a particular time, simply called ahead for reservations. Horizion Court, Caribe Cafe, Sabatini's, Sterling Steakhouse, and room service were also available--no problem finding food, unless you wanted to complain!

Internet cafe service was very spotty. All computers appeared to be working, but some would get hung up--many unhappy (non-Platinum/Elite) cruisers getting charged to watch a blank white screen. Hopefully that will improve.

Movies Under the Stars was impressive. They sure had the sound cranked up! "Blankies' were provided on each of the cushy lounge chairs--sure does get chilly on deck at night.

What else do you want to know?

How far away could you hear the sound from the movies by the pool? How late did the movies play?

We like to walk on deck at night with only the sound of the ship moving through the ocean. I'm concerned that this will affect our enjoyment of our cruise. I can watch movies ANY day of the week at home but I can only take a relaxing cruise every now and then.

One more... how was the food at the Caribe Cafe?

Thanks for your replies.

Cruizingirl,
Welcome back!

Do we have questions!!!!

Just how "cranked up" was the sound from the movies? Could it be heard in other areas on deck? This is a concern of mine.

Did you get to try the Sterling Steakhouse? Price and menu?

How was the Caribbean style dining?

Thanks so much for answering our questions. Inquiring minds can't wait to hear!!!!

Happy sailing,
Mary Jo

Seating for Movies Under the Stars is done strictly by reservation. Press "CONCIERGE SERVICE" on your phone and they handle it.

Food was okay. I'm never overly impressed with the variety of food each evening on Princess. Not that it's bad, I just don't have the "too many choices, how will I make up my mind dilemma". I can recommed that you stay away from the Zander and Swordfish--neither were a big hit. The "Tiger Prawns" were nothing but medium shrimp (at best). Rack of lamb was wonderful as was the prime rib. They had a souffle almost every night that were quite good. They DIDN'T have a chocolate dessert every night--and for the first two nights they "couldn't find" the pillow chocolates!!! The third night there was a handfull on the pillows, it was funny!

Yes, I met Spongerob and his wife--they are on the Golden right now, lucky them!

Next question?

Cruzingirl,
Thanks for posting. My daughter and I have been watching this site all day!
Were there any problems getting chairs at the pools? What movies were showing? Are the rooms spacious? We have a balcony on Caribe. I read somewhere that you could get massages at Princess Cays. Is that true?

I didn't have any problem getting a deck chair--there are plenty of decks and a vairety of pools.

The sound system is LOUD, but the movies are only shown at certain times. (Usually 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm) Still time for quiet deck walking--and the late show wasn't every night.

The first night no reservations were needed for Tina Turner in Concert. They showed "Something's Gotta Give" several nights. On Monday night they showed the NCAA final Four on the big screen--way cool! An evening showing (6:30) of Finding Nemo was a big hit with the kids--and yes--there were many kids on board. They got louder and louder as the week went on. Unfortunately they were not 'policed' I witnessed several passengers telling children to slow down, stop running, keep your voices down--with no parents in site. I was surprised that Princess didn't appear to have control over this situation.

I didn't go to either specialty dining room. I've done Sabatini's in the past and while I liked the experience, I don't see a need to pay and additional $20 for dinner. Menus are available in your stateroom guide book and are posted outside the restaurants. Sterling isn't very private--- it reminded me of outdoor street seating. There is a hallway that runs past, and only a half wall as a barrier. Personally I'd much rather have a view of the ocean (or a painted wall) than a parade of gawking passengers!

Cafe Caribe had sightly different food than Horizion Court throughout the day (they had sushi Friday for lunch!!!) In the evening it was set up as a bistro--linen covered tables. I'm not sure if it was table service or buffet.

I was not aware of any Bob Marley related problems--anyone have details--I can't locate the post. There were at least 6 possibly 7 ships in port that day. Lots of people, lots of alcohol. . .
