Is it true that you can order anything at anytime from room service on the Diamond. I have heard stories like this and then we go on the cruise and you can order only a few items (sandwiches, etc.)... http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

The menu for room service will only show a few things BUT during regular dining hours you can order off that meal's menu. Check what is offered on the menu posted outside the dining room and order away.

We have at least 1 dinner on the balcony on every cruise.Call room service and they will bring you the dinner menu.

Yes, I have ordered full (and it happened to be lobster) dinner on my balcony on the Grand. You must order EVERYTHING you can think of that you'll need with your meal (melted butter, bread...). The room service guy comes with a huge stack of plates with clear plastic covers on them, and sets the table on your balcony for your first course, and salad, if any, and leaves the other courses stacked and covered on the desk in the room. As you need each course, you yourself, obviously, go in and get it, and bring it out to the table.

I also did this on the Diamond (not lobster, but a full meal, and the same held true).

Whenever I get a full room service meal I always OVER-tip, in cash -- I want the crew to look forward to delivering room service meals.

PS: Forget the "room service menu" in the room. Call room service and tell them what you want. Chances are they'll figure out how to get it to you.

Sounds like a great idea to eat on the balcony. How long does it take for the food to arrive? And how did you tip?

Thanks,

Scott
