Question - Cats. SS and SY on the Westerdam??

WE just booked cabin 6111 on the Westerdam. The deck plans show it as a Cat SY, but our TA says it's Cat SS. Any difference? This is our first time on the Westerdam. Would love to here comments.

The former SS category has been sub-dived into SS, SY, and SZ categories. The only difference is location.

Apparently, your TA is not familiar w/ the new(-ish) stateroom sub-categories.

SS's and SY's are the same other than SS's are located on Deck 8 and SY's are on Deck 6. (If she'd bothered to look at an updated deckplan before she advised you... :cool: )

I hope you love traveling in an SS/SY as much as I do - they're just the right balance of size and price, IMO.

Thanks Dakrewser and Brian for the explanations. And I agree, Brian..its seems like a good choice for cabin and price. I prefer deck 6 because it's in between two all cabin decks! So, guess I did okay.

We have this cabin next week and I have a question regarding the music players- a DVD/or VHS players. We took our music DVD on the Veendam last fall and they only had the VHS players. This ship have anything new?

Does this cabin have a DVD player or VHS. We were on the Veendam last fall and took DVD and could not use them as only a VHS was in the cabin. We are in Alaska next week on this ship. Thanks

Gwen - All SS/SY's on all Vistas have DVD players

We spent 2 weeks in this very cabin in January, and were very happy. It has a DVD player, but does not have a VHS player.
