I've booked a PH1 on the Regatta on it's September 22, 2007 sailing from Rome to Venice. Can anyone tell me what the cabin is like. And what do you get with the PH cabins?

Thanks!

Well, you have chosen well. The PH staterooms are fantastic, and your Butler will spoil you--that's for sure. Evening canapes are a delight. Limited clothes pressing upon your arrival is a wonderful feature as well. You also get priority booking in the specialty restaurants as well as priority check-in when you arrive at the ship. Overall, these accommodations are among the finest.

You have a DVD player, refrigerator, a magnifying vanity mirror (but that is not in a very good location) but I'm glad to have it, wonderful plush towels, a robe for use during the cruise, and great slippers.

Enjoy.

Also over 100 square feet of additional space and a shower/tub combination for those inclined. We have sailed with Oceania six times in a PH suite and love it. You can go to the Oceania website and do a virtual tour of the cabins.

"Evening canapes are a delight."

I feel that the canapes are the weakest part of Oceania's food service. My first "O" cruise was in a PH, and unless you liked smoked salmon almost every day, you were out of luck. On our March Nautica cruise we were in an OS. Now you at least get a choice of what you want each day by filling out a form and giving it to the butler. We tried just about everything on the list. None were bad, but none were wonderful. It surprises us because we think the food everywhere else on "O" is great.

Digby, I agree with you, the canapes are just not up to the Oceania standards you enjoy in every other dining venue.

Needless to say, we are working on it. The kitchen tells me its the problem of making hundreds of canapes several hours before serving them. Can't really make them "a la minute" as the entire galley is getting ready for dinner.

I am going to be working one on one with Jacques Pepin to see what can be done to improve the canapes.

My apologies, but we're on the case.

Happy Mothers day.

This is amazing...that the CEO/President of this company is reading/responding to the posts on this site is unbelievable! No wonder everyone loves this cruise line! Can't wait to experience this with our first cruise in 4/07! Thank you, Mr DelRio..for your interest and response to your consumers! LuAnn

Mr DelRio must enjoy the CC boards!!!

The "O" board is the most positive I have ever been on and it is obvious that the attention given to the posters by the President reflects the company's desire to keep the customers very happy. This gentleman really knows what it takes to run a succesful corporation.

If the most critical remark is "too much smoked salmon," I think the line is doing a stupendous job and is in really great shape.

Can't wait to sample some in 01/07 !!!!!:):):)

Do I detect some sarcasm here? :) Or is my own doubt influencing my take on what you have written? I find it hard to believe that fjdelrio is the actual prez of the company, yet when I look back at his posts, it appears he might be the real deal. That is impressive, and cool...

The PH minisuites are actually 1.5 times the space of the standard balcony cabin. At this size, it is probably Oceania's equivalent to the boutique ship cabins, suitable for those who like Oceania's itinerary though used to a more spacious cabin. Its price is often in the same ballpark as the boutique ships on sale.

As for the smoked salmon, it is part of the wide-variety buffet served at breakfast and lunch every day. It is fresh and good. Food is one of Oceania's strong points. As the food is delicious and plentiful, you have to be mindful of eating judiciously in this day and age of high blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol. During our two week cruise in 2004, plus pre/post-cruise to make 20 days, the male cat gained four pounds and the female cat two and a half. It took us some two months to shake that off! Perhaps Oceania can look at some low fat, low calorie yet great tasting alternatives for those who need them?

I was being sincere! He has responded to other posts and I have had communication from CC members via email that this/he is the real deal! LuAnn

Re the canapes, we,too, asked for something a little different periodically, and without hesitation, it was provided. Not just in the OS suites, but in the PH suites as well you are provided with a selection menu. If we did not select anything, our Butler provided us with maybe a dish of nuts to enjoy. It is great--regardless of what you have.

Are canapes available for those of us in Concierge level cabins? Would be nice to relax on our balcony with a snack and a glass of wine.

On our last Oceania cruise, we were in the cheap seats (insude cabin), and sometimes we ordered a cheese plate and a fruit plate for appetizers to have with a boittle of local wine. Very nice.

Does this mean that the man from whom all good vacations come...
could be getting a dose of his own medicine this week?

Could he actually be on vacation?

On our last cruise, on one of those boutique ships, with everything, not free, but included in the price, we did not tip our room service servers. How is the tipping of room service personel handled on "O?"

I wanna see an email from Joe Watters! I was RVL for many years until they pulled up the gangway one last time and told me to go away. If, as I believe, that O is the equivalent if not superior to RVL, I will be so happy Istanbul to Singapore in November.

Joe - I have my RVL cocktail glasses, my real leather bookmarks, my gold RVL charm on a necklace - gosh, I miss that line. If O is what I believe it will be, I'll just pull up a cot and sail the seven seas on Oceania.

In watching comments on these boards that cruisers wish they could sail O to certain spots but no itinerary is available, I can just feel those acquisitions growing. Evidently y'all run a fine cruise line. Can't wait to see the ceiling murals in the library.

Fair winds and following seas, gentlemen.

What did you find sarcastic in Lu Ann's post? She was just sending kudos to FDR..and yep..he is "THE REAL DEAL"..perhaps I'll send him a T-shirt with that on it..
Now about "those" canapes..some of them are okay.. but, perhaps the ship could have a canape menu ..so we can pick what we'd like to get
rather than just giving everyone the same thing...some days you just don't feel like sushi:D

Well, I mentioned in my post that "the sarcasm" might have been in my reading of her post - if you read it with certain intonations, say emphasising the words in caps, then it could sound sarcastic. But I did put a smiley face after I said that... I was a little doubtful that the CEO would be cruisin' the boards (I'm a 16 yr old girl, by the way) and I thought Lu Ann might be too (doubtful, that is). But it's all cleared up! Remember the power of the smiley :) face!

Is the scrimp cocktail like the one served in Polo? Or would that be too much to hope for?

On our cruises on on both the Insignia last July and the Regatta in February (in PH suites), I seem to remember that we got a list every day from which to choose the afternoon selections to be delivered to our room....

Most were OK, but, really, just go up to the afternoon tea if you are hungry around 4pm, and you will have a wonderful choice of gastronomical delights - you pick and choose what you want and can even take some down to your cabin - as I did a couple of times for my DW......
