View Full Version : Cafe Caribe?

Or is it Carbe Cafe?
In any event what I have gathered is that it is open from 11:30PM when the Horizon Court closes till 4:30AM when it reopens.
Is that right? Seems like some really odd hours.
Ok and it't table service, what's on the menu?
Happy Cruising

I read in a separate posting started by Minooka (I hope I spelled that right) that the HC does close at 5:30 p.m. The information came from the little card that lists the times of all the eateries/bars/lounges that is left in the room. I hope that the HC is open till 11:30, or at least till 8:00 or so. I don't know why I am so concerned about it, since I have never taken advantage of the HC in the dinner hours or later. I just think Princess is making a mistake by limiting the hours of the HC for those who want that alternative to the regular dining rooms (the no-cost alternatives, I mean)

It sounds to me like the Cafe Caribe is the night-time alternative to the dining rooms and the Horizon Court. I think what Chris is describing is the Bistro service that Horizon Court offers on all of the ships - that is available from 11:30 to 4:00. My understanding is Cafe Caribe is the in-between the Horizon Court closing and the Bistro...
I'm confused...that's why I stick with Traditional!

Minookas post stated that the Bistro from 11:00pm to 4:00am was in the Cafe Caribe. From Minookas post the Horizon Court closes at 5:30pm and doesn't reopen until breakfast at 6:00am.

I think I am just going to have to experience it for myself.
This is sounding just as confusing as PC dining was before I saw it first-hand, now it makes sense to me.
As long as I'm in so deep let me ask this--- so what they serve in the Horizon Court between 11pm and 4am is called "the bistro"?
On our Golden cruise last month it seems to me that it was mostly pre-made up sandwiches, a salad bar and some desserts
Ddjam's description makes sense though. For the Caribe Cafe to be operating between 5:30 and 11pm as an alternative to traditional or PC dining.
Shall we go with that?
(This really can't be this hard can it?)

Chris,
The Horizon Court isn't serving anything from 11pm - 4am are they? It's the Cafe Caribe that has the Bistro isn't it? Anyway after you experience it for yourself report back to us.

If the info was in her cabin and given to her by Princess I would think that it is the real deal. Anyway I took it as such and posted the info on my website.

That's not fair! LOL! I've never been on Princess before and my sense of direction is terrible. I'll probably be heading towards the bow when I should be going aft! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Just thought I would weigh in on the Caribe Cafe. We ate there the 2 formal nights (decided to simplify the packing). We thought it was delightful. They seat you and bring drinks (in our case, uncorked our wine) then you serve yourself at the buffet. There was grilled lobster both nights we were there - also, lots of different fish dishes, carved meat (one of the nights was Beef Wellington), tons of mussels and clams, shrimp cocktail, different salads, paella, strawberry tarts, dulce de leche tarts, and lots of other things that I can't remember just now.

Sue, I read that posting also. Now I know that the Cafe Caribe has nothing I want. I don't eat lobster, shrimp, mussles, much fish, nor much red meat. Fettucine All'Alfredo, here I come! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Do you need a reservation for the dinner buffet at the Cafe Caribe or do you just show up?
Sue, was the food spicy like other posters have mentioned? Did they have plain salads and fresh pineapple?

Hi All - Minooka here. Yes, I posted the dining times yesterday. Unfortunately, I must have picked the worst night to dine in the Cafe Caribe, the food was awful. What Sue posted sounds wonderful so stay away on Sunday (Western run) and go for it later in the week! Happy cruising...Carol

Cruise 182,
Darn if I know, but how did you dig up this thread:confused: . Have tried to go back to old boards, but can't.
Chris (Cruising isLife) should have the answer since he has now been there, done that.

I don't know which is open late, but my 16 year old son ate steak at one of them every night after the Teen Zone closed (1 am) with his friends he made there. He grazed like a cow the whole cruise. The room service guys knew him by name. And he only weighs 135 lbs. There is food 24hrs. a day.
