What exactly is a thalassotherapy pool ? is there a fee to use it on the Nautica?

also what spa treatments have you tried? what are the prices like & what is worth trying?

Thanks!

I disembarked from the Regatta one week ago; & had several spa treatments. First the thalasotherapy pool is a small pool just aft of the spa changing rooms. In it are special salts; & it's kept about the temp of a jacuzzi. There are jets if you chose to turn them on. You are entitled to use the pool (at no additional charge) either one hr. before or one hr. after a scheduled spa treatment. If you are interested only in the pool itself, you can buy a day pass for $18 or a cruisepass for $119. Facials range in price from $132-157. There are various types of massage that range in price from $132 for 50 minutes to an 80 minute one from $185-261. You can have massages in your cabin for $185-245. There's a "4 hands" massage for $264-349. I had the hot lava rock massage, as well as the Balinese Bliss massage. Both were divine. I had a series of 2 facials (not sure their exact names) which left my skin smooth as a baby's butt & (at least for a few days) eliminated my "crows feet". I would presume that the prices & treatments available are the same on Nautica as they are on Regatta. Enjoy! :)

Can you make spa appointments on-line prior to the cruise or only on board? If only on board, is it necessary to make them immediately upon boarding?

Sorry, I don't have an answer about prebooking appts. I did tour the spa on embarkation day; & they were booking appts. right & left. As usual, sea days were the most popular. They gave out discount coupons that could be redeemed for appts. on port days. One might be able to get a last min. appt. on port days.

My husband and I got the cruise-long pass for the thalossotherapy pool last year on a South American trip and felt it was well worth it. Many times we were the only people there and there was lots of protection from the wind when weather was less than perfect. Being in the front of the ship you get great views-very impressive going through the Chilean fjords. Enjoy!

Thanks, Queen of DaNile for making me realize a mistake in my previous post. The spa IS at the bow; & therefore the pool is forward of the changing rooms (not aft). The views are fabulous up there. But, I also want to point out that w/ the wind shield & the overhang over the pool, it got suffocatingly hot in there on a warm, still day.

I just got back from the Rome-Greece Insignia. The thalassotherapy pool is nice--it is, as other people have stated, a little bigger than a jacuzzi. In fact, just think of it as a jacuzzi--but it is salt water.
I had spa treatments & took advantage of the thalassotherapy pool. However, I don't think it is worth the $18 a day. I loved it because I was in the pool all by myself & it was so peaceful.

Also, you cannot book before the cruise. But, on our cruise, the only day that filled up was the sea day. The spa is open until 8 & they try to make room for everyone. But, I do recommend that immediately when you board, you make your appts. When you board, they will give you an invitation to the spa's champagne reception- basically, before the ship leaves- they open the spa so you can see the treatment rooms & thalassotherapy pool & make appts.

Here's a tip-- the locker room at the spa is divine. Your room, unless you have a suite, will have a very small bathroom. The spa's facilities include very nice showers with multiple shower heads & larger showers. So, I booked my treatments before dinner & got ready in the spa (they also have lockers for your belongings).

As far as price, the spa treatments are expensive and don't forget that they will add 18% as a service charge-but, you are on vacation & should not think about that stuff.

Oh, I almost forgot- the prices are different depending on whether you are sailing or not. When you are in port, it is cheaper- not by a whole lot- but like $20. I booked my treatments, for example, to begin at 5:30 or 5:45 when we were set to sail at 6 & got the cheaper price.
