We're sailing on Insignia in early June and I was curious about the in-cabin internet access. Although I know there are wireless hot spots throughout the ship, if I have to work, I prefer to be able to work from the privacy and comfort of my cabin. So in order to use the in-cabin access, is there special equipment required? When we sailed on Celebrity's Constellation, we had to get a special telephone in order to use the internet. Will we need to do something similar on Insignia?

Thanks in advance for the info!

If WiFi shipwide hasn't yet been installed, then all you'll need is a long standard telephone connector. You'll set-up in the computer room and pay $25. for the privilege of working in your cabin. The internet access is painfuly slow.

I was curious about the WIFI availabilty too because I do want a connection but am only bringing my hand held Dell Axim. Wireless is what I need for that. Decided against lugging a laptop as it is just one more thing to lug and worry about.

Sorry, but at the present time, WiFi is only available in the computer lab, next door in the game room, and in the library. And, as has been said, it isn't a speed demon.

I was on the March TA on the Insignia. My Palm TX worked well. The wi-fi works out on the pool deck. Quite a number of people took advantage of the sun and the "surf" on our crossing.
