This is not a ship-offered shore excursion, but if you want something interesting (and cheap) to do, go to the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. The pier is on Front Street, so turn right (south) from the ship. Walk down to Mill and turn left. It's a big building with a green roof. They show a movie, and have interactive dioramas. It is a must-see if you are interested in the culture of Southeast Alaska. Back toward the pier is an indoor mall called Salmon Landing. There is an "outlet" store on the main floor, and every Alaskan souvenir you could ever want is in there someplace!
