In looking at the HAL website for the Westerdam, all rooms sizes are described with a range. For example:
VERANDAH SUITES
2 lower beds convertible to 1 queen-size bed, whirlpool bath & shower, sitting area, private verandah, mini-bar, refrigerator, floor-to-ceiling windows, bathroom with dual sink vanity*, additional shower stall*, dressing room*, 1 sofa bed for 1 person*.284-398 sq. ft. with verandah*. See deck plans for specific information.
How can you figure out which rooms are closer the the larger end of the size spectrum within each category? I assumed there would be minor size variations within each category, but to have a range of 114sq could be a big difference in some of these rooms.
Thanks!

It's the verandahs that vary - those facing aft have bigger verandahs.

I would also assume that is some staterooms, the handicapped cabins would also result in being at the high end of the spectrum.

IMA--
Those 284sf staterooms are the two handicapped SY's on Verandah Deck forward - #'s 5001 & 5002.
All other SS/SY/SZ category staterooms are 389 sf or more.

HAL has told me that on the Vista class ships, the connecting veranda suites have slightly less square footage for some reason - don't know where it's lost though....

I am a newbie here, so dont know if I should be posting or not?? My family and I have done a few cruises (of course now I am hooked), and all of them were with HAL.
Every time we have cruised, has been with our two kids (teenagers) and we never stayed in a 'suite', just your typical 'sleeps 4' outside cabin.
We had loads of room - even with two teens and all their assorted junk as well as a selection of dive gear!
I am sure, that unless you have some very specific needs your stateroom will have more than enough room! :)

Have to agree with Spunone - have always stayed in outside D category and it has plenty of space, drawers, and closets. If you are planning to entertain a lot that's different. Use our cabin mostly for sleeping, bathing, and dressing. Can get to the next deck easily to do all the walking I want to do and also spend lots of time in the Crows Nest during the day with a giant panoramic view of everything.
