Hi All,
We're wondering what the distnace is between the airport and the tahiti princess cruise port. some of the ta's we've been dealing with are pushing the transfers (50/per person) round trip. Is this a good deal? Or would it be cheaper to get a cab from the airport to the ship? How much would that cost? Basically, my main question is: Are pre-paid transfers the best and cheapest way to go? Thanks for your input!

The transfers are a good deal. Taxis can be expensive over there. One driver wanted $50 just to take us to the Sheraton which is halfway between the airport and the ship. It's only about a 15-minute drive depending on traffic.

We were on the Feb 27, 2004 sailing and we were off the plane, into a taxi and to the ship before any one else was. For the 4 of us, it was a $35 fare in a large van. Much cheaper than what the transfers were from Princess and quicker too. We did purchase (on the ship) the transfers to the airport for return trip home because with the Omni flight there was a morning trip to check in luggage etc. Since that would have been 3 trips in a cab (airport, ship and then airport) the savings wasn't as great. If you only need to take a cab once then it is cheaper to do independent transfers. The airport only seemed like a 10-15 minute ride. This was just our experience witht the transfers. Faye.

I used a taxi for the 20-minute-or-so cab ride to the ship. It cost about $15- no more than $20. The Princess transfer was $25 per person ($50 for the two of us!). The taxi worked fine, was cheap and easy.

we used the transfers on our first trip there, but not this time. You should be able to get a cab for less money, and you don't have to deal with a whole busload of people when it comes to embarking and disembarking.

We used a taxi to take us to Le Meridien both ways from the hotel to ship and then back to the hotel on the last day. The cost of the taxi ride was $35US.

Le Meridien is quite a long way past the airport - (the taxi ride to the airport from Le Meridien was $35US, but this was using the hotel's services which are much more expensive).

Working on this premise, it is definitely cheaper to use a taxi.

We just got off the Tahitian Princess 4/17/04. A taxi to the airport from the ship for 4 people and 10 bags, including carry on's was $25.00. At around noon we got off the ship and asked one of the taxis on the pier if he could pick us up at 6:15. The cab was there waiting for us when we got off the ship at 6:10. Made the trip to the airport trouble free and saved us $75.00.

Iwould concur. Cabs are the way to go. As usual Princess transfers are way overpriced. Not to mention that you are then traveling with a pack and will hit queues as a result.

we were on the tp on 2/7/04 and also took cabs independently at far less cost than thru Princess. On departure day around noon I went over to a taxi by the dock and reserved a cab for 6:15pm and he was there waitin for us.

Hi Doug & Nadine,

Remember Bill & Debbie from The Golden Med Cruise last year? We are booked on the 6/26 TP in a Gty BC Cabin. Sorry we couldn't go earlier with you.
How was your cruise? What cabin did you have? Can you recommend any excursions to take/stay away from? Things to do/not to do?
Can't wait to hear back and hope all is well with you both.
